Primer paint

Ok so I have to replace my driver door and front two fenders. Am also putting in a 97-99 front bumper. Question is, does anyone one know what kind of primer I can lay on that I can drive over the winter till I have time to pain the rest. Of coarse has to be waterprove.

There is no primer that is meant to do such a thing. Are you using new OEM or new aftermarket parts or are you using parts from an LKQ (junkyard) source. If it is the LKQ source, I would suggest leaving the parts what ever color they may be. If it is new OEM or aftermarket, I would wait til you were ready to paint to install them, if that is not an option, prime them well inside and out ad hope for the best.

front bumper is new. and the fenders and door are used and different color. I have seen a lot of cars/muscle cars do this, figured there was some sort of primer out there that was either water prove or was made for that purpose.

if they are used leave them whatever color they are. If they're new then buy a couple cans of good spray can primer and paint. It will need sanded before getting professionally painted anyway.

Primer isn't meant to seal water at all and will actually rust VERY quickly since the priemr actually absorbs water and keeps it on the surface of the body.

EDIT just saw your post. The front bumper is urethane so you can leave it unpainted. Leave the fenders and doors whatever color they are.

The factory coating will not stand up as it is not a protective coating, most likely you will see some spots begin to rust as they usally have the edges worn down from sitting in a box and getting handled. If you are looking to drive for awhile with these panels on your car then I would suggest putting an epoxy primer on the panels but make sure you prep the panels before painting, any autobody supplier will carry epoxy primer even Napa carries it and then when you are ready to paint all you will have to do is sand and spray, Epoxy primer is the only primer I would recommend and the only primer that will do what you want.
