i am not a newbie i just could not find this topic. i have my engine siting next to my car ready to go in. i was wondering if there was a way to prime the oil system. brand new turbo and oil the oil is out of it. could i just pull the fuse to the ecm and crank it over with the starter. would that do it or is there another way. thanks for your help.

no my machine shop said to use a dewalt on the oil pump sprocket. they told me the starter does not turn the motor fast enough. when i did it with a cordless drill it took about 5 min. at max speed (3000rpm) it was a pain. my smallblock buddies told me i should have used vasoline to prime the pump but i filled it with lubriplate instead (machine shop recomended). the shop i used specializes in dsm's www.engintecs.com

Just disconnect the ignition. Pull the oil drain plug from your turbo. Crank on the ignition is 5 second bursts. When oil starts coming out then it's been primed.

Just pull the ignition harness and crank just the way defiant explained. Then start her up and let her idle until operating temp. Don't worry about all the smoke that comes off the engine and out the tailpipe.
