I put in a fidanza clutch in my car and did it the same way I always have torqued down the PP to 25ftlbs got the flywheel 2step resurfaced. Bolted the tranny up got it ready to go, I started the car up and heard a scraping sound we thought it was an engine bearing but it was my pressure plate scraping my clutch fork.

Any ideas why this happened and how to fix it?

Compare the Pressure Plates and look for a difference in height especially at the marked up part.

I recently installed a Comp Stage 4 and the PP was scraping the casing on the lower part of the bellhousing. I choose to clearance the rib slightly with an air grinder and it fixed the issue. I noticed when compared to my previous clutches it had these "knubs" on the outer edge that I just assumed were for balancing. These stuck out further than any other part of the PP and what was causing the "knocking" at startup.

If it is hitting the fork it could be a bent fork or the new clutch. Possibly a combo of pivot ball washer and if you have a starter plate installed.

Where are the contact points on the fork and PP? Have pics of the fork and PP?

Can you get video of the noise it's making? Mine has an odd, inconsistant noise that I haven't been able to pinpoint. The car drive just fine, though.

Now I'm half tempted to pull my tranny to inspect mine....

Not that it probably matters any, but which Fidanza clutch are you using?

We tore my whole engine apart! All the way to the main and rod bearings because it sounded just like a spun bearing and had some copper shavings in the oil, turns out the bearings were fine and everything else, Oh well needed rings and bearings anyway with 198,000 miles. Its the four puck kevlar 3.2 didnt even drive the car once though.
