Ok I was a bit reluctant to post this thread here, as I read the forum rules and I read that if im a proven member that I shouldn't be posting in the Newbie forum anymore, and as this is sorta a tuning question, I'm posting this here.

Ok heres my situation. Im rapidly approaching my first dyno run. I need only TWO more MAJOR parts before I actually hit the dyno, namely my DSMLink and my FMIC. BUT since I have to wait for the finances on those very expensive items, I'm a bit eager and scared as to what my WHP/Torque is gonna really be. I love this feeling of excitement.

So I guess my question is this: WIth my current system, what would/could/should<--whatever one you would like to answer, my whp and torque be at? I understand that there are A LOT of variables like, whats my stock whp, depends on my tuning, etc.. but im just interested right now on "could/should" as I wont know until maybe i get those last two parts which could be 3 months from now LATEST, 1) because i have to send my EPROM(im one of the lucky few who has two of these babies) to DSMLink which could take a bit, and then order my FMIC which probably will take 1 week and half, NOT including the time it takes me to actually get the funds. Im just a bit eager is all, and would like to know the ballpark figure i could be looking at, im not looking at this as what I'm expecting to run, just as a figure. Anyways heres my setup, please keep criticisms on turbo choice/brand choice to a minimum :)

Greddy TDO5H/18G Turbo Upgrade Kit
Greddy Type RS Blowoff Valve ( recirculated of course)
Greddy Autotimer
Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller
Greddy SP Full Catback System
HKS Autotimer Harness Kit
Buschur Racing High Flow Catalytic Converter
Buschur Racing Downpipe
Prothane Motor Mount Kit
NGK Uridium Spark Plugs
NGK Performance Spark Plug Wires
Aeromotive AFPR SS Kit
Walbro 225 LPH Fuel Pump
FIC 750cc Fuel Injectors
Blitz BLM Boost Gauge
Injen Intake ( Filter part)
Greddy 24R Front Mounted Intercooler
DSMLink Engine Management

I added those last two as thats the parts im missing. thanks. Also any recommendations for first timers at the dyno??

I'd 86 the supper expensive Greddy FMIC for a basic SSAutochrome ebay $299 special if you can find one. I've had great success with mine.. I installed my turbo/FMIC/Dsmlink at the same time last spring. All I can say is take your time.

You're going to want to spend alot of time on the Dsmlink forums reading & searching. If you have never been exposed to Dsmlink, or only have intermediate knoledge of the 2g ecu you will feel a bit overwelmed at first. There're alot of little things that magicly show up that are wrong with your car that you would have utherwise never been aware of. It takes a bit of getting use to, to understand all the values and their meanings, and what to watch for. When you do get Dsmlink PM me and I'll help show you the ropes.

It's simply impossable to give you pointers on your dyno tune without running through the basics first. Power is in the airflow/timing/afr. All 3 can seem impossable to tune without understanding the basics. It litterly means the diffrence between running 13.2's and 12.2's

I figured as much, there are way too many variables involved to simply get a "straght" answer. Thanks for the feedback tho, and yes when it comes to the tuning aspects of the car, my knowledge reaches its limits. I will give you a PM when I do grab DSMLink, which seems the most definite way to go. I chose the Greddy FMIC just because I mean, i want to push the car as far as I can, but being as i want a daily driver, i feel that would be my best choice. I know there are countless other paths i could have gone ( Full Garrett, short route FMIC etc..) the setup i chose really, for me at least, suits what i have planned for the car.

I m not planning or hoping to run 12s or shoot not even 13s in this car. I know that takes A LOT of work and tuning, but i would like to take it to the track, just to see hehe. If i do manage to get even low 14s shit, i would be very happy LOL.

you obviously dont know what kind of power you have at your hands man. the 18g is a more then capiable of putting down 400hp with the right tune and mods. the greddy fmic is gonna cost you alot of money for almost nothing when you can get the SSAC kit for 300 bucks. if you can figure out how to drive that thing you should beable to hit low 13's if not 12's....

Is there some reason you think the Greddy kit is better for daily driving? I think most people that have the SSAC kit daily drive there car. Also with the short route piping it would be more responsive (in theory).

Isnt this Bench Racing?

Its not bench racing because hes not asking how much power his car is going to make

hmmm

not trying to hate, but I guess you did not read his post.

Anyway, I doubt the Greddy kit is more reliable then other FMIC kits.

My Dejon Race core leaked from day one, had to send it back in and get another one.

Well honestly, one of the reasons i chose Greddy is because of their quality. I bought their exhaust and blowoff valve awhile back and have been thoroughly impressed and since then i trust their products. Simple as that. Not willing to go any other way because they've proved to me that they have reliable parts., any reason you doubt their reliability? Did you have a part from them fail? Im just asking, because i get a lot of responses about how much 'better' other kits are than Greddy for "cheaper" prices, and thats usually from people who "hear" that the other brands are better, yet have never used a Greddy themselves. I can tell you only this: All those Greddy parts i have, have been WELL WORTH the effort, have shown real quality, and have performed AWESOME. Can i tell you about ssac's intercooler? nope. can i tell you about any other brands ? nope.I cant becaue i never used them,BUT I have NEVER dissuaded anyone from using Greddy or any other company's products because frankly, i myself have never used it, so how can i know the difference?

What i CAN comment on is on the Greddy products i myself have used. I HIGHLY recommend all the Greddy products that i have on my car to anyone, because i myself have them in my car, and have experienced their products. Is x brands better? hell if i know. Will i tell you NOT to use x brands product? Nope, again i can only recommend stuff to people if i myself have used/bought it. So i wouldnt comment on x brands if i had no personal experience with it, I try not to comment on what i hear, i comment on what i experience.

Sorry if i got into a rant, its just like i said,i always get responses, about Greddy, usually from peeps who only complain about the price and give no real input in terms of why x brand is better, how is x brand is better etc...give me reasons and ill listen, not just " x is better than y because y is too expensive".

Also sorry if this is "bench racing". Im not too familiar with the term and i actually thought it meant when you say " can my car beat x car?", thats what i thought benchracing was. What is the definition of Benchracing? Honestly, im not sure on the definition.

@2GAWDTalon

Sorry if my response sounded 'harsh', i was in one of 'those' moods and read into the post more than i should have, you, yourself were giving a recommendation on Intercoolers and I kinda attacked you, sorry for that, hopefully no hard feelings? Thanks for the recommendation on the SSAC, I looked into it, its very nice, but since i already have the Greddy Upper IC Piping, Im just gonna stick with the Greddy 24R.

Again sorry for snapping, and thanks for your input:)

WoW up too 400hp?? Im just aiming to get around 250whp or a bit more as i dont plan on going any farther than the mod list i provided. hehe 250whp and im pretty happy, shit if i get any more than that im satisfied :)Well lets see what i get on the dyno once i get that FMIC and DSMlink:)

I have a Greddy BOV, it is fine at 10psi, over 20 and it leaks like the little bi*** that it is. In your first post you mentioned that you have to save money for the FMIC and DSMLink. Everyone is just trying to let you know of a option that is well proven, is a better design (dare I say, maybe I should say copy) and is 1/3rd of the price. DSMLink:thumb:, kudos to you, Link is the shizznit and is a bargin when you think about the price compared to SAFC + Logger and what you get for your money. I have not personally used a Greddy FMIC, I have friend that has the kit, he likes it. I have personally used, installed, sold the SSAC/XS Power kit. In regards to function, the SSAC kit is better. You have a supper short route on the piping and that will give you faster responce. For the price of the Geddy FMIC kit you can buy DSMLink AND the SSAC kit. But anyway, that is cool. We are just trying to bring you your dreams sooner. It is your choice. Either way, you will have a fun setup. You will get alot more out of it then what you are hoping, def. a 325+hp setup. Good luck.

Edit: No hard feelings, the Greddy kit is a good kit. It is just for baller.
You will blow by 250hp. Dont worry, even if you make 350, you will wabt more soon. That is how it goes. You are now a boost junkie!

cool thanks for the tips and heads up man:) Anwwhoo ill keep you guys posted on my progress and whatnot, i just changed out my cv axles, man the driver side one was TORE UP! I just got some OEM replacements for about $80 bucks, will probably upgrade those later down the line.

As for DSMLink, yes im a bit nervous about it, but yeah it beats buy a SAFC + Logger THEN having to take it to someone to tune EACH TIME i change something, THATS what made me turn to the DSMLink side, it was said to me that i can tune it myself, once i learn the basics of course:)

Dont be nervous about DSMLink, it is the best mod you can do. You will be able to tune it yourseld and you have very experinced tuners on there forum that will help you tune it by uploading your logs. It is the easiest part I bought for my car.

Just for reference the Greddy FMICs are pretty crappy in comparison to others. The tube and fin design is less efficient, and the Greddy FMICs tend to dent up easily. Sorry, not hating on Greddy (even though your fanboyism and brand love annoys me) You would be much better off with the SSAC kit, or one from Extreme Turbo Systems.

Anyway, I'm guessing you'll be in the 250-350 range.

I have the 10.5" Extreme turbo systems race intercooler, and I must say that I highly recommend it for the price. The bar and plate design is top notch, and I never overheat at all.

(even though your fanboyism and brand love annoys me)

Its not really fanboyism. fanyboyism implies that i would BLINDLY follow x brand EVEN if x brand was to hurt my car's performance. Im not blind to the fact that there are BETTER FMIC's out there for our cars. BUT Greddy, i believe is FAR from being labeled as POOR performance. Its not the best, but then its not the worst.

Brand love, I am guilty of th, BUT its not because of fanboyism. Its through personal experience with the brand ( in this case Greddy ) that i have come to like it and trust it. Thats all, If i would have gone with x brand, and had a good experience i would be saying the exact same thing here only with x brand's name instead of Greddy. Although i do love all kinds of brands from Walbro, NGK, Tein, Injen, HKS. Is that not how we become "loyalists" to certain brands, through good personal experience.

Like i have said, i bought the Greddy SP Exhaust and BOV first, and i have loved the deep tone and performance gains i have gotten out of the exhaust, it was a quality piece and also my first modification, and since then ive like the brand:)
