I made new power steering lines last year for my 2g when I did my wire tuck and the power steering pump starting squeaking. I removed the power steering loop that runs in front of the radiator. The two lines that go to the steering rack run along the frame rail now. I replaced the pump twice with remans from Advance Auto and its still squeaking. It does this all the time, at idle and when driving. I'm using Auto transmission fluid. The car seems to turn fine so what's going on????

Squeaking all the time or just when turning? Are the lines causing an restriction in the fluid flowing properly?

All the time, it starts a couple seconds after start up. I don't think the lines are causing a restriction, but I'll take a look at that.

Another related problem is the pumps belt keeps coming off. I'm running a jays racing alternator relocation kit so the pump is "offset" so the belt rides on the outer pulley. I'm not sure what's causing this.

I also looked at my lines, both lines have one point the could be a restriction, but I'd like to explore other things before making new lines.

Still... Them being that far out of alignment is a problem. I know there's a mod you can do for the ps pump to put it in correct alignment. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find info on it.
