I have searched everywhere but am having no luck finding anything other than a crank pulley for an ESi :banghead: . Right now I am having issues with a power steering pump and am trying to figure out where I can get new bearings for or a whole new pulley for this 420a. Please help. :thumb:

Thank you.

EDIT: mkay. Am just looking for a pulley, not bearings. Totally spaced and put that in there when I created this post.

$10 for a seal kit, or $80 for a replacement pump plus a $50 core.

I personally would just replace the pump instead of messing with trying to rebuild it.

Otherwise your looking at a trip to the junkyard or a part out.

I always thought that once the bearings go, you gotta replace the whole unit? at least in my experience, seal kits just band aid a bigger problem.

Anyways, your best bet would be to go to your local parts store and snatch one up for no more than 100 beans plus the 50 core, maybe even less. Costs a s***load but you get a lifetime warranty. Just hold on to the reciept so you dont run into some ol' bulls*** along the way.

I had tons of trouble finding one also so your definitley not the only one.

I can get the pump, that really is no problem, but honestly, you can't even find where to buy just the pulley itself. For TSi's there are many manufacturers but there are none for any 420a.

What is wrong with the pulley that it is worth going through the hassle of trying to find a new one instead of just replacing the whole pump?

Well, every power steering pump that I find has no pulley. I have to replace the pump, and was wondering why not get a pulley for it to. And bam... no one sells them LOL. I haven't yet taken the pump off of my car, but you can tell by even looking in it that the pulley doesn't sit right with the rest of the pulleys. IK this can also be the pump and bracket and all but I was thinking why not find where I can get a pulley as well so if it is messed, it can be replaced rather than having to wait a week for the pulley to show up for the new pump.
Just trying to think in advance.

Edit: another thought that just hit me that I can buy a power steering pulley not necessarily OEM all its needs it to be about the right diameter, correct number of ribs, and same ID.

So, is there anything wrong with your pump or are you just wanting to replace the pulley because it doesnt look right??? Maybe get a picture ?

Okay so here is the first picture

Yes, this is an okay picture of the pulley. The picture doesn't capture as much as it does in real life how bent and not parallel it is to the other pulley and crank.

The reason this is a problem

As it comes over this first pulley it changes the angle when it leaves (red arrow), causing it to ride on the edge of the tensioner and then the AC pulley. This is the old belt that has been worn and all so it still stays on. I had bought a new belt for this and it was constantly rubbing/ riding up on the edge of the next pulley ( the right side of the pulley indicated with the green arrow). When I took it to the shop to get new tires, I was speeding up to 55 on the highway and the new belt totally shredded and by by belt. This pulley/ pump is causing this.

I will soon replace the pump because it is also going bad. When I do this I will also take the bracket out with it and check that. If its the bracket I can fix that in the machine shop at our school. and like I posted above, I could modify a new pulley if I have to, though it would just be a pain to do so if there are any places I could get one, it would be a lot easier.

I think that pulley presses off using a power steering puller. The pump definitely looks a little bent by the picture, the bracket just may be bent. Or the pulley might have a crack or chip in it.
