Power seat belts stop working.

So driving on the freeway one day and my alt. belt breaks. My brother comes to bring me another belt to put on. As hes tightening the alt back into place he touches the wrench to the exhaust manifold....
This blew my alt. fuse. Replaced the fuse and notice the only thing not working are my power seat belts, all fuses are fine and everything else works right but my seat belts... I have gotten pulled over twice for this. Any ideas? Is it true there are life time dealership warranty's were they have to fix them if something wrong with them?

As well, my power locks work but sometimes they spaz out and lock on and off by them selves... Everything ele works fine.

did you pull out the fuse for the auto seatbelts and check for continuity?

No to be honest i didnt think of that!!

Say its getting it, do you think it could have blown both motors?

I have this same issue. The fuse was good, and I double checked with a multi-meter just to make sure... still haven't been able to fix it. Are your's stuck in the back position like mine?

My drivers is stuck forward, my passenger is stuck back.

Hmm... both of mine are stuck back. My next step is checking the wiring inside the door. I read somewhere that someone had to replace a window motor and forgot to plug in some sensor that tells the seatbelt to move forward/back. Hence, they were stuck. I won't get to it til the weekend though...

Well like i had said those are the only things that dont work and they worked fine before my brother blew my alt. fuse >_< So im thinkin the motors but is it posible to blow the motors if it didnt even blow the fuse?

My buddy has his stuck the same way, one foreward one back, and we took apart the entire door and couldnt find any loose plugs and everything seemed to check with a multimeter. we finally just gave up and threw in some harnesses and a harness bar

I don't want to replace stuff without finding a solution to the problem. I could replace the motors or the belts, and wiring but if it still don't work then im just wasting money.

Quick question, im not an electrician but if i ran some hard wire to my motors with a 12v battery would it turn my motors so I can see if they are good?

It would be nice to get them working again but i could care less if they did just need to get it stuck up not down...

Yea man, look on the side of the motor for some kind of tag. Look for something on there that says how many volts it needs. It will be fine to hook the battery directy to it to test it, as long as the motor runs around 12v and not like 6v or something. And yes straight connecting it up to power with a ground wire connected to ground will activate the motor and bring your belt back up untill you find the real problem. If the motor is shot you will find out when hooking it up directly like you were saying. I personaly would use a fuse inline with the +12V line just to be safe when doing this testing. It would suck for the 12v line to hit the car chassis with no fuse haha, Trust me I know.

You should invest in a power probe
