Ok, well heres the deal. My car idles fine and sometimes runs fine. But most of the time when i take it out to drive it, I can take off then somewhere around 2k rpms it will lose power. If I hold the gas down for a few seconds while it is doing this it will throw a cel. But as soon as i let off the gas the cel goes away. But then it will do it again randomly when i'm accelerating. This problem doesnt always occur, just randomly. Is it vapor lock? I searched for quite a while but i couldnt find anything about any cars doin exactly what mine is sooooooo. Please help.

Oh and it also does it when i'm actually driving. It has yet to bog down on me while it sits in neutral.

Can you tell what your DSM is? 1G or 2G, Turbo or non-Turbo? Even though the CEL goes out, I think there should be codes stored that you can read to help you find the problem.

Ohhh yea sorry its a 1g non turbo. I forgot that b/c i just opened this new name since my old one got deleted because of the new rule about free email addresses. So you think if i just hook it up to a obd it will still tell me what is going on?

Well, it will only tell you what it is, if the CEL light is on.

Also, what kind of power loss is it? Does it feel like pulled timing, fuel cut, stutter?

It kinda feels like its mis firing or not firing at all on a cylinder or something.... But not really sure. I'm actually at a loss. So tomorrow I'm gonna pull the plugs and examine that whole area i guess.

Believe it or not, I am actually having the same problem. I have a 99 GST and I live in Vegas. The average temperature for the last two months has been around 115. For me, this problem started about a month ago when it started to get real hot here where I live. What I experience is also random, and mainly occurs during the day time. I will be driving, and then around 2500 rpm, I will lose power and it sounds like I am bogging down. Sometimes it will last only a short time then I will gain power again, other times, it will last for quite a few minutes before I can drive normal again. I have experienced it when I start my car after it has been sitting out in the sun all day, it will run idle well above 1000 rpm's and when I try to drive it, I will experience the power loss problem. Its very annoying, and Im not sure what it is. I was also told by a mechanic that there is a good chance it is vapor lock, and that there isnt a lot I can do it about except maybe trying to wrap the fuel lines so it absorbs some of the heat. Again, I really only experience this problem during the heat of the day. If anyone can offer some advice I would appreciate it.

I actually spent last summer in vegas. And my car did it then too. I'm almost positive its vapor lock. Only thing i cant figure out is how its making my cel come on...

Yeah, I dont know man, like I said. Its very random. Some days it doesn't happen at all, and sometimes it happens one or twice a day.

Well i replaced my o2 sensor, Tps, and all the filters. As well as spark plugs and wires. Now I finally dont have a check engine light, But it did stutter again on me tonite for just a second. My only last guess will have to be timing. ?
