Post pics of your rear strut tower bars in your car

mines a 19 dollar one off ebay. why get rre or anything like that. a strut tower bar is just that: a bar. why pay lots of money for a bar. a bar is a bar.

anything over 20 bucks for a strut tower bar is retardly over priced.

There are differences in strut bars. What there made out of, how much they flex, and so on. I'm not saying that the one you got off ebay isnt as good as rre or anyone elses, or that rre is better than naything else, but there is a difference. A bar of steel is different than bar of the thinnest aluminium you can make.

if you truly believe that. like i said, a bar is a bar. by buddy brought his extreme motorsports bar over to compare with mine, and we got them mixed up. theyre all the same.

here's some food for thought: strut tower bars do nothing.

just get the most bling one you want or get a cheapo for peace of mind if you really think they do something. if they improved handling a great deal, car makers would put them on the vehicles.

Looks real good though

thank you.

I am not going to get into an arguement, cause that not what this thread is about. This is my last post to the quality of strut bars.

But like I said before, I'm not doubting the quality of your bar. I was simply restating what I have heard about the ebay bars. In some cases they're weak and flex alot with very little pressure put on them, but others are identical to the name brands that cost a ton more. The reason car manufactures don't put them on all there cars, is because they're not necessary. They are going for the most cost efficient production of a car. We add them for a slight improvement to the car. Some sports cars do have strut braces from the manufacurer.

thank you.

Um, they do. The Evo comes with one. Even Civics comes with them too.

i understand what youre saying, but all im trying to say is that if you made one of out cardboard, it would work equally well as one made out of steel.

That is a very ignorant statement. Strut bars keep the chassis from flexing as much as if you didn't have one. And a good example of a car coming with one from the factory is the 6th gen Celica GT4 in Japan. It comes with a factory front and rear strut bar. Also, the Celica GT's in the states come with a factory front strut bar.

dude, its a selling gimmick. they dont do anything. the celica comes with a spoiler too, does that mean its functional as well?

Ever heard of "Chasis Flex"? It's not a myth! It DOES exist! Granted I don't really dissagree with your statement about a $20 being just as good, because any stiffening is an upgrade, but to say that they do nothing shows your your knowledge on chasis rigidity.

Take a roll cage for example. Yes, they are there for safety before anything else, but they also add a GREAT seal of stifness to the chasis. Do you dissagree?

That's probably because you were dealing with soft suspensions. On a track suspension with 2k springs chassis reinforcement is not only important but vital.

Even on my otherwise stock suspension my butt-o-meter showed a decrease in flex during cornering after adding front and rear strut tower bars.

I got both of those bars for $20 on ebay.

far from it. but if that was the reason, you have indirectly proven it is pointless on stock cars.

I have? I said it's vital for a track car. That means it's important for a modified car. Which means it's helpful for a stock car. Do you see the progression here?

based on my multiple personal experiences, they do nothing.

are you implying that civics dont have soft suspensions? you have condradicted yourself and proved my point that they do nothing other than look cool.

Man I needed that... I've been too stressed out...

as far as manufactures go I looked inside the hatch of a brand new 350z and I saw a rear strut bar. (or it looked like one, and I'm pretty sure it was stock because when that happened those cars were fresh off the lot)
strut bars add some stiffeness, but it car bearly be felt on a car that isn't taken to it's limits, but sway bars are a lot more noticeble, having both upogrades is great and but having both upgrades plus a cage would be awesome...

igs - your quotations dont help you justify your contradiction.

i dont understand your logic.

as for that pic above, if you truly believe they do that much and the car flexs that much, then continue to do so. i dont know what ill take for me to explain to you they do nothing, and honestly, im sick of arguing in the non-performance section of to0nerz.

cheers.
