possible water Pump issue

hey I'm very new to these forums in fact i just joined today. now, i just bought two eclipse's. one is a five speed rs with a blown engine(crankshaft). and the one that i currently drive is an automatic with a cold air intake(homemade). and i have to put water in it almost every other today. Today it got really bad cause the temp gauge shot up and it started smoking white smoke. Any idea on what the exact problem is?

and is there any special maintenance needed for 420a's


ps i plan on doing lifting the engine out of the auto and putting it in the 5 speed so i would like any helpful engine swap advice

My eclipse is burning through water by the day and im not sure what the problem is. could it just be water pump? today it started smoking white smoke when i was driving

If it's smoking white smoke then you most likely have a blown head gasket. Check and see if your oil/antifreeze are commingling with each other. Also, smell the exhaust and see if it smells sweet. If it does, then you've either got a blown head gasket or a cracked head.

I'd look at replacing your headgasket. Pushing coolant and blowing white smoke are 2 tell-tale signs of a blown HG.

Check to see if the anything is leaking from the head, replace the gasket. And that everything will be ok.

hmm i was hoping it wasnt that, i kept telling myself that, ill replace it when i lift the engine out of it. cause im putting it in a five speed.

Could be the head gasket. If you've got access to a compression gauge I'd do that right away. If not, a simple spark plug check might show signs of coolant if it's bad enough. Is it running rough at all?

sometimes when it overheats itll kinda sputter and jerk and sometimes, smoke will come out of the tailpipe(white)
