possible rod knock?

I just did a balance shaft eliminator in my 91 tsi. everything went well. timed it perfect and fired right up. ran great for a while. I let it idle for like 30 minutes. i would give it a little gas every once in a while. no issues so far. so then i rev it up to about 3500-4000 rpms and i hear a knocking sound. i shut it down and started it back up later and now i hear a knock constantly, it doesnt go away. I am wondering what this could be. its weird that the noise didnt come till i reved the engine up. any advise will help. thanks.

could it be a really bad lifter tick? if its loud and rpm consistent it could be a rod bearing.
rod bearings sound like a hammer banging, lifter tick sounds like a screwdriver tapping

i have had lifter tick before its more like rod knock it sounds like its coming from the rear of the motor.

sounds like a spun bearing you should drop the pan and check each rod for play

damn that sucks thats exactly what it sounds like. so what would you suggest. just replace the bearing or rebuild motor while im in there.

I cringe every time I hear that noise on youtube, ack.
At the very minimum replace the rod bearings and oil/filter, STOP RUNNING THE ENGINE.

ok so i pulled the pan and crank and the crank mics out perfect within the tolerances. the bearings look like a gray color with lighter colored marks in them with some scratches on them as well. not sure if i spun the bearing or not. how would i tell and if not could this still cause a knock. the rods look and feel fine. there is no gashes or marks on the cylinder walls or any where the rod could hit. my car sounded exactly like the previous guy posted the video. just wanna make sure i cover all my bases before i put it back together and in the car. also was wondering if it could be the head? it sounded lower end and knocking more than tick. i did a compression test before i pulled the motor and had 150 accross the board. thanks guys.
