Edmonton,
ok so iv been having some problems with me evo 1

it all started when it wouldent hold an idle the other day and would just cut out even after reving
pulled the plugs to find that cylinder 1 and 4 were completly fouled and were wet with gas
i thought it may be the coils so i repleaced them, no change
went on to replace the ignition amplifier, no change
did a comression test to find out that:
cyl1-135psi
cyl2-90psi
cyl3-145psi
cyl4-165psi

so far iv come to the conclusion that im going to have to pull the engine and take apart the block due to the piston rigngs possibly going

this was my daily driver so any advise on a rebuild would be much apreciated, that is if i need to pull it completly apart

i also had a problem with it only producing 6psi of boost under complete load and was trying to diagnose this when all this happened

If the car is your daily driver and you want to reduce down time, the best bet is to build a motor and just swap the other one out and the new one in. You could easily do that in 1 day.

the motor is coming out very soon.
and i cant even get it to start to do the seafoam, as far as iv seen, seafoam is an additive for crank case and gas tank?
theres only 60psi of comp in cyl2
and cyl 1 and 4 are fowling as soon as its starting.
and the spark is strong in all plugs.

Do a wet compression test (capful of oil) to see if that cylinder #2 pressure comes up. I'd hate to see you tear it apart thinking it was rings, and that wasn't indeed the problem.

how does the oil look, the last time i saw compression like the the head gasket was swapping compression between the cylinders

If it was swapping compression between cylinders, you'd have at least two low cylinders. It could be a slightly blown headgasket that hasn't gone completely yet, worn rings, or bad valve seals.

A wet test, followed by a leakdown test will be the definitive way of figuring out where the compression is going.

il do the wet test today for shure

took the valve cover off cranked it, and all the springs seem to be fine, cams are ok

also going to do the leak down

oh and the oil looks fine.

thank you for the replies. they are very helpfull

if i pull the engine does anyone have any advise for a build?
bore, port polish, cams, pistons,rods.

advise on bore size piston and rod brands ect...

I hate to see you pull the engine if you don't have to. If your compression wet test is fine I would try the seafoam. It goes in your engine, gas tank and intake.

cyl 2 went up to 130 on the wet comp test.

and i cant get it started to do the seafoam. it will hold idle for not even 3 seconds then it stalls out
