I would like to know if its possible to do a 7-bolt swap into a 1g? that is, with minor modification and wiring headaches. I seen that a lot of DSMers prefer the route for a 6 bolt into 2g due to crankwalk but having seen that its nearly impossible to get my hands on a 6 bolt, I want to try the route of doing a 7 bolt into my 1g. Will the swap be a perfect fit? do i have to do major modifiying? BTW, its for a 92' Talon Tsi AWD. thanks.

i dont see any reason why you couldnt make it work...maybe you arent looking hard enough for a 6 bolt :thumb:

Depending on when your car was made it might be a 7 bolt. If it was manufactured after 5/92 then it is already a 7 bolt and even if it's not, a 7 bolt swap it possible and has been done a few times before.

well, first thought when i saw the topic header was wtf for?? but after your explanation, I just wonder even more about you...LOL..anyways, just check e-bay or possibly RRE for a list of importers, also you can check parts locators, I am sure they can find you one somewhere in the u.s. of a. In any event if your unable to find one, you can always take the one off my hands in my spare talon if you wanna come and pick it up. Although I think your crazy if you do, me 6 bolt I found will do just fine...hehehe...

yes.. if you had a late-model 92' or anything made up to 94 you have a 7-bolt. I have a 93 and mine is a 7-bolt. but they arent as prone to "crankwalk" (i hate that word) as much as 95+ because a totaly different crank and bearings were used in formation of the motor. just rebuild the motor you got..if you cant find a 6-bolt. good luck man.

7bolt into a first gen:

Please don't... :toobad: I am sure you would be able too with ease. Its really not worth it. The motor has a lot of inferiorities to it. Skinny journals, weaker rods, crank evacuation!... What happened to the motor that was in the thing? (Assuming its not a 7bolt already.)

I would look into other options: Rebuild, JDM motor, Built, Junk yard... The 6bolts are getting harder to find now, but they are not gone.

My two cents about it.
