My buddies N/T 95 Talon broke down again. So today we towed it to my house. We're not getting spark or fuel. And when I turn the ignition to the ON position or crank the motor the CEL does not illuminate. I know this is a sign of a failed ECU but he said they push started it and it ran for 5 seconds. Also, he said the fuel pump had been rather noisey lately. I'm really scratching my head on this one.

Is the fuel getting to the fuel rail? Is spark getting to the coils? That happened on my 97 GSX and after I bought a $300 ecu it still didn't run. It turned out to be the crank sensor.

Fuel pump and the ASD relay are within spec. There is no fuel going to the rail. And no spark going to the coilpack. Does anyone remember how to do the voltage drop test to the ECU?

mine did the same thing but its a 1g it was the relay by the ecu behind the head unit got a new one and it had fuel and spark??i even checked the fuel pump wire by the tank and nothing then the relay fixed it not heat unit im already in the newbie forum i dont you guys to think im retarded too LOL

Alright, I borrowed the OB-II from work. It's like the one's they use at Autozone. Little orange hand-held. And it couldn't link to the ECU. They key was on engine off. So I figured that was a sure fire way to tell if the ECU decided to give up. Am I right by replacing the ECU?

The power locks and lights will still work even if the ECU has failed right? Just trying to be absolutely positive before he throws 165 bucks at this thing.
