Ask Me,
Virginia
I just finished porting a 2g Exhaust Manifold to a Felpro Exhaust Manifold gasket.
It seems that the Felpro Exhaust Manifold gasket is larger than stock. The VFAQ warns against hogging the runners out too much and not to port it out as large as the stainless gasket. I think that the Felpro Exhaust Manifold gasket might be as large as the stainless gasket. The VFAQ warns about dead spots (not sure what that means). On a side note, I didn't port the head out at all.
I am wondering if I might have ported the EM out too far. Is there really such a thing? Anyone else port to the Felpro EM gasket?
This is what the VFAQ says "Port to match the stock 1G composite gasket, NOT the new stainless one. Porting out to the stainless one is largely a waste of time, as you can't port the runners that large, and if you port the head to match the SS gasket also, you'll have a dead spot in the airflow due to the head flaring out, then the exhman flaring back in. If you don't have the stock composite gasket, it is less than 1/8" larger than the openings in the exhman runners, so you barely need to open it up. When I port them now, I only clean up any protrusions in the entrance, and leave it at that."
Thanks
