Need to port exhaust manifold?

it has the port to match 7cm2 so i would say no..pointless to touch the runners as the head you would have to match as well...how are you setting up the turbo, i thought the fp3052 required the vband ext wg and a custom o2 housing...or what are your plans...

If the 3052 has a 7cm inlet, then no you don't need to port the manifold. If it is bigger, go ahead and port match it to the turbo.

He had told me it was 60mm, so I'm guessing I wouldn't. Would it make a big difference if they didn't match right up? Sorry, I haven't updated my profile yet. Does anyone know about how long it will take to replace the turbo and the exhaust manifold?

You are correct that the 3052 uses a v-band clamp for an external WG off the turbine housing & you will need a custom O2 housing to connect to your factory flanged DP but I'm not sure what this has to do with the exhaust manifold? The 3052 still has a std DSM style turbine inlet & therefore uses a std DSM mani. As far as porting goes I guess you need someone to measure (or the guy who's selling you the mani) the physical size across the collector opening as it sounds like FP has told you the diameter of the turbine housing opening and 7cm that they refer to when talking about the collector is the area & not the physical diameter.

PS What was it, a Vtrim you were running, guess it wasn't cutting it anymore, defently a great turbo choice :thumb:, have to let us know the results of the swap.

Well I've been following this turbo for a while, and recently put mine up for sale to see if anyone was interested. I called Forced Performance and they ended up telling me that this turbo was a huge step up from the vtrim so I decided to stick with it and find out for myself. I haven't heard anything bad about it either so I'm ready to get this thing on. They did say it's going to be up to 3 weeks to get it mailed out to me. Well worth it though from what I have been reading. I'm going to probly step up to 950cc injecotrs, 255 pump, and cams; but that won't come till after summer. This thing wasn't cheap.

Ya haven't ever heard a bad thing about this thurbo, other then the price of course :D I keep on eyeing this turbo but I don't know if I can justify spending $2000 when all is said & done on this setup when I can get something comparable for half the price. So what did you go with for the O2 housing setup? Are you getting one that is flanged for a stock flanged downpipe or are you getting a custom vband downpipe/O2 combo? What about the wastegate are you go externally or internally dumped?

Well the reason I ended up getting this was because I wanted a good re-liable turbo that I could use on the street and get a spool of a smaller turbo and the power of a much larger one. This thing will actually spool faster than my old turbo and from I've seen and get me a lot more power. So I can't go wrong there. For that plus theres a nice pricetag like you said of 1300 for the turbo, but from what I have found most of the bb are going for around that. Where they get most people is by requiring an external wastegate and o2 housing. I was going to go external anyways so I was really just out on the O2 which is still quit a bit.

I ended up with the 2.5" O2 housing since that fits right up with my downpipe even though my downpipes 3". I didn't get the 3" because they told me I would have to get some things modified to do so and with no difference in performance I didn't want the hassle. The wastegate is going to be external with the v-band, this way it's coming off the other end of the turbo rather than having one sticking out somewhere. Just a little cleaner I think.

I'll keep you posted on how everything goes, I just called today and they told me the 20th before I get it. Hell of a wait time but I'm sure everything is going to be done righ so I'll wait.

Hopefully it's going to be worth every penny I don't plan on upgrading anymore so hopefully this will meet all my needs for the street.

Ya you'll defently be happy, should see 20 psi by 3800 rpms maybe slightly sooner as I believe your still running the stock cams. For the WG I do realize you have to run an external gate with these turbo's was just asking if you were going to dump the exhasut from the external or recirculate it. Think it does sound like you just going to dump though. Pesonally if I do end up going with this setup I will be running the WG recirculated to keep it more "stock" looking. This setup looks amazing in this pic, was just trying to figure out how much they wanted for the style of O2 housing I want to run if I do go that route.

yea, I've actually seen that picture before, on their website though I don't see were they offer the recirculating O2. I might give them a call tomarrow and see what I can find out. I'm sure it can't be to much more if they do offer it. I'll be sure and tell you what I find out.

Why is the oil filter way up there?

Where are the water lines in that picture?

Whats that gold thing sticking out? Is that the place to measure boost?

Krummel21

Water lines is the gold hex looking bolt in the center of the housing behind the oil feed line.

The gold thing sticking out yes is a boost source.

I think the recirc o2 housing they sell is bankage compared to the dumped one.
It was super expensive.

The wastegate opens when it "feels" a certain amount of pressure. So for stock wastegate boost, you would just hook up a hose from the comp housing barb to the wastegate nipple.

If you wanted to increase boost say using a boost controller, it works by bleeding off pressure from the boost signal thus delaying when the wastegate opens.

Oil filter looks to be in the correct position, maybe just the angle of the pic that makes it look wierd? Gold thing, is a barbed fitting for your boost source (ie wastegate/boostcontroller) Water lines are in the pic, you have to look closely as they aren't completely hooked up but you can see the banjo bolt for the from water line & looks like they are using the stock lines. The front line goes down about 1" from the banjo bolt in the pic & probably ends behind the comp cover, you can see the rear line sticking out a couple inches between the exhaust manifold & water pipe.

I'm guessing that is the bolt that I am suppose to take out and hook the oil feed line up to?

What would I cover up the old oil feed line hole that I used for the v-trim (Pulled from filter housing)?

I also looked to find the water line and the only one I found was the line that came off next to the radiator cap (cap next to valve cover) and went down and ran right below the exhaust manifold and connected down next to the oil filter housing. It was one continous line I didn't see what was going to go to the turbo.

I'm guesing this is how the water lines need to be hooked up when I get the turbo. When the mechanic installed my V-trim he threw away the water lines and blocked them off. I was wondering when I buy the water lines will I need to buy any bolts? Does the turbo usually come with that. Anything else I need to buy?
