Alright I have another post on the 1992 Laser AWD now I have this one I bump into. A quick info about the 1991. A guy was doin a build on his DSM, I posted on the Local board I was lookin for a AWD and he PM me about the one he is building and that after the build he might sell it. Well he notified me that he is going to sell it plus throw in his Green 1993 Talon TSI AWD he was going to use as a parts car. Both of them have a 6/4 bolt in it and here is the info.

Black 1991 Talon TSI AWD cost $3500
Mods over stock:
small 16G turbo with ported hotside.
manual boost controller
2.5" catback as well as a CAT delete
Right now the car has a flowmaster muffler, but doesnt sound too bad. (I'd put a magnaflow on it though)
Polyurethan Front LCA bushings, motor mounts, and sway bar bushings
Aftermarket clutch (exidy I think)

The Motor has 75 miles on it right now, .030 block, fully machined with JE forged pistons, fresh polish on the 6-bolt crank and new bearings, timing belt, tensioners, idler pulleys, balance shaft removal, etc...

Basically every gasket on the motor is new, as well as the axle seals on the transmission and the output seal on the front diff.


Issues that will need worked out...
It's got idle surge, probably a boost leak, but I've been more concerned with breaking the motor in than chasing boost leaks.
Minor oil leak at the turbo return line on the oil pan. I should've used RTV with the gasket but I tried to get away with just the gasket, oh well.

The body isn't great, but it's not horrible either. The car itself had 160K on it when I took possesion of it a few months back. It's got its share of dents and dings but nothing major. It has it's share of rock chips on the front end, the hood is showing signs of fade and the top is faded.

It's got 2 month old 20% window tint also.

Both cars, have their share of good parts on them. I was going to use the green car as a parts car for backup drivetrain parts and other misc. parts. They both have gray/black interior, one with cloth seats and one with leather seats, pass. side leather seat has a tear in it I think. Neither car has a good headliner, but that's about a 50$ fix.

Both cars were 6-bolt cars with 4-bolt rearends, so you basically get double of every part, but if a guy really wanted to, the parts car isn't too far gone to be rebuilt and driven also, I just don't have the desire to.

I have a Silver 92 Laser awd Cost $4k~$5k( haven't got the answer of the Offer I made for $4k)
5/speed 6bolt/4bolt - less than 10,000k on rebuild. (Probably less than 5k, I'd have to look) Ross pistons, rebuilt tranny, Clutchmasters 2500 pp with Clutch net 6 puck disk. All machine work done by Absolute Automotive Machine in Topeka

2.5" turbo back exhaust, Eibach springs and KYB GR-2 shocks, newish BFGoodrich KDW's

Greddy 660cc injectors, Comp Cams, Turbonetics manifold with Tial Sport external wastegate. AGP L2R ball bearing turbo.

GM Maf and Translator, DSM Link, Greddy EBC and Turbo timer.

I'm sure there is more I've forgotten.

So should I go with one the has the upgraded turbo or should I buy the 2 for 1 deal sell the 1993 and get that aftermarket turbo that is on the laser?? Advice and info is welcome
 
in my honest opinion two for one is a much better deal and to top it off the motor is a fresh rebuild
 
We really hope you find a good car. Please stop asking us about every damned last one you see. As the "What's This Worth" thread illustrates, we cannot appraise what we can't touch.
