Pointless 6 bolt swaps

107K w/ no end play... If it's going to stay on the street and you are comfortable with it, keep it a seven.

Lucky you, I have 90k miles with .4 mm of end play. I am going threw the trouble of a 6bolt swap this winter. The donor motor has 120k with great compression and has never seen more than stock boost. I think Ill just feal safer this way.

Its asking what is the point of doing a 6 bolt swap if you dont need to.

In your case, your block had a defect.

In my case , its perfect.
So whats the point in going with a 6 bolt?

Is somebody holding a gun to your head to swap to a six bolt? If you're so sure you don't need one than don't do the swap. It's as simple as that. Goddamn this is a dumb thread.

heres why you swap a 7 bolt. Cuz you want too. i dont care if my 7 bolt is running perfect when i get it im sill gonna take the 6 bolt out of my 91 to put in it. why risk not being able to drive your car cause of crankwalk or rods breaking.

Poor reasoning. You might as well get a hip replacement too, because one day those hips will be shot. While you are at it, get some dentures those teeth won't be with you for ever!:D

The old saying "if it ain't broke, then don't fix it!" I love my 7 bolt. I had cw and I still have a 7 bolt. I could have put a 6 bolt in, had it in the basement but I figured I would stick with a 7 bolt. Long live the 7 bolt!

Hail:dsm:

I would say don't swap in a 6 if your not building the block.

I can't edit that far back. However, I had around 80K on the clock not 8k when the rod tossed its cookies.

See what happens when you type fast and don't proofread?

1995 dsm's are the shizz

Word up!!!! I have just came to the same realization; why fix it if it ain't broke. I was saving to replace my seven bolt because the internet had me all scared of cw. I have 124,000 miles on mine and I am running it untill it pops!

Last time I visited satan he told me I had minor end play. I am happy I have gotten as many miles out of my motor as I have. The best part was, he started pushing a new "factory" motor, starting at $4500! I could not believe how far satan could get his head up his ass! Drugs are bad satan, drugs are bad!

I figure why replace something when it works fine. Now when it does decide to go that will be a different story......:D

Maybe I'm an idiot, but am I the only one who realizes that any four-stroke internal combustion engine can crankwalk, not just 7 bolt 4G63's?

Its about time people stopped slamming the 7-bolts. Its getting really old hearing about how every 2g is going to crankwalk.
People looking at DSMs log on here to see what we have to say, and all they hear is CW CW CW. Heck, Ive had Honduh guys tell me to sell my car because it wont be too long until it walks. (not that I actually listen to them...)
Every car has it's problems, and CW has been blown WWAAYY out of proportion.

It's said best on: http://www.turbo4wd.com/

Yes you are an idiot. But lets stay on topic.

Anything can, its just the fact that 3% of the 2g's did that makes it a big deal.

And yes you are an idiot. :D

The 57 chev with a 545 in my garage CWed. It happens. LOL

It happens alot if you put together the motor wrong.
