I think it is common for the logger connection to suck in our cars. Just wiggle it and try it in with the key in at 2 without the car on and see if you get a connection. It could be your pocketlogger. Test it on a friends DSM to find out. Also connection speed shouldnt be that slow and I cant think of a way that you could make it faster.

My logger does the same thing man.....it seems like cold weather makes it groggy as well.

Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it wont connect, and just recently...everytime I display my CEL codes, a fatal error occurs and the logger has to reset itself before I can clear any codes. I'm going to have to pull the batteries and re Hot Sync it....

hmmm...
I've never had any connection problems in either 2G I own.
Have you been to the Pocketlogger Forums? It could be a PDA problem.
Only a few times, with DSMLink, I've had to unplug the OBD, and turn off the car...wait about 30sec to a minute, and plug back in, and restart the car, but that's it. I also tried one time to plug in Pocketlogger to the car I have DSMLink with. LOL That didn't seem to work for me?! WTF I was just curious to see if it'd work. LOL uhhh, NOPE! At least for me it didn't LOL

Pocketlogger has never given me any issues. The longest I've ever seen mine take to establish connection was about 15sec.
Either, it's a OBD problem specific to your car, the PDA platform you are using, or your just too impatient. ;) J/K

Look over the Pocketlogger Forums, they have really helped me with minor problems. If you can't find nothing, take it to the dealer. They can check your OBDII connections I would assume...

Good Luck!

Yeah, sounds like a hard reset. What PDA plarform are you using?

Well,
I am no expert on PDA's ect...but I have PalmVx, old school and never have any issues. The only thing I can think of is you can try hooking it to my car, and see if you get the same results...maybe then you can see if it's the OBD on your car, or the PDA. I can try mine on your OBD. I think that will let us know where the problem is. Your software, hardware, or car. Or just get with Pocketlogger. They are pretty patient with their customers, who have PDA problems or issues. The Fourms there are pretty good too.

its weird..sometimes i sit and wait forever and it does even connect..when it connects is when i actually get lucky

im having the same problem with mine... except i cant get it to connect at all..

did you figure out anything that got your to work?

i have:
- palm lllc OS 3.5
- obd2 cable from digital tuning
- and a hotsync cradle

im stil waiting on the email so i can get there program, but i've tryed both obdgauge and palm'n'stein...

any suggestions?

I noticed I only have problems with the PDA when I don't use it for a while. Just recently I got my car back with a 6-bolt swapped and I brought my PDA in case I got any CELs on the drive back from the shop. Unfortunately when a P0300 came up (random misfire) my PDA froze as soon as I saw the problem. I did a soft reset but it wouln't boot w/out asking me if I wanted to delete everything. I had no choice so I did so and hot-synced it again.

Even with the hotsync cable it doesn't stay firmly in the port, it can fall out at times. Occassionally I press it in a bit more just to keep the connection alive.
