pocketlogger connection issue

I can't get pocketlogger which is installed on my sony clie 610n (it is compatable) to connect to my car. The software is registered and I used the hotsync to install the software to my logger so Im sure that works fine too.

I read somewhere that the issue might be with pin 16 which is power and someone hotwired power to it. Is this the pin on my cars OBDII and how/what do I hot wire it too?
Also, if this is a fuse issue where/which fuese should I check?

I also wanted to add that I tired connecting my elm to my car and PDA and when all the cables were hooked up the lights on my elm were on. So there can't be a power issue, right?

and from further reading I read that someone solved the issue by doning byte timing... Where is the byte timing feature on pocketlogger and can I even do the byte timing when it hasn't even connected to the car.

What program do you have running when you try to connect the logger to your car? The only way my pockelogger will connect is if: I turn the car on, turn the logger on, open pockelogger, and open either diagnostic or another feature then connect the cable. It very finicky.
I cant wait until link v3 comes out.

I only run pocketlogger. What I do is connect all cables, turn on my logger, start the car then click on the pocketlogger icon an wait. My logger ends up turning off before any connection is established. Im not sure what the problem is. thanks for the replay btw
