Hey guys i have a question for you. My girl found a Sony Clie N610C at her job at a tuxedo rental co. in a tuxedo. Well i imediately thought "POCKETLOGGER".

My question. What is a pocketlogger useful for? I have a EGT gauge on the way and a Apexi AFC i'll be ordering within a couple days, i have 550's but not installed and a 16G not installed. I'm thinking all i need next is a pocketlogger, right? Thanks.

With a data logging device like the palm or visor and the appropriate software and cable you are able to do many things with it.
Checking and clearing check engine light codes is a nice thing to have when on road trips and it decides to start flashing at you.
But it can be used to learn what your car is doing and more importantly... what you're doing to it.
Ignition timing, engine coolant temperature, short term and long term fuel trim, upstream and downstream o2 signals, vehicle speed, intake air temperature, Manifold pressure, throttle position, and many more things. It's an invaluable tool for those who want to learn what their car is doing and a necessity for those who are truly interested in tuning the modern fuel injected automobile.

I've read that it can do all this on there website, but don't understand what knowing all this is good for. I guess the only way to find out is to buy it and find out, huh?

Also if i go to this site then click the banner to buy the pocketlogger software does that give credit to the site or do i have to tell them dsmtuners refered to pocketlogger.com? thanks.

Well its kind of like playing name that tune. When you give is all the info up front and ask a specific question we can answer the question the best we can in 1 post as opposed to 3 or 4 back and forths.

It’s a bit hard to explain completely but here is a very general idea. The information that the logger gives you will allow you to make determinations of you are running to rich or lean, by looking at timing you may get an inkling that you are getting knock, coolant tempt can tell you how effective your radiator is and if you are running too hot, of course you are going to need throttle position to tell the difference between hi and low throttle positions etc. All of these readings give you a general picture of where to start when tuning your car. Otherwise you are really flying blind.

PS where in Pa are you from? That street looks vaguely familiar.

This is the info. i was looking for, once i get the logger and play with it i guess i can ask specific questions and also find out some on my own.

The pic is taken on Chestnut St. in the backround is a parking lot. I don't live on Chestnut, though.

Well, the post is labeled " PocketLOGGER Dataloggers". Was it too much to ask that the topic is what's actually being discussed in here?
There's plenty of room in the "The Hangout" for smack talking.

I have a very basic/cheap Palm Pilot its either an m100 or and m105 and it works great aside from it always running out of AAA batteries when I want to go out tuning.

That thing looks like it was the original Palm Pilot (M1). It seems to be over worked!:thumb:

u guys crack me up, abusing pictures of me and my body parts :)

as I said before nick.. Palm M105 is the cheapest palm that the pocketlogger people suggest for the application and they sell it for 105
