Quick back story: I purchased this RNR exhaust about a year ago, and it was supposed to fit my 94 1g AWD 5-speed. Although it was a great deal, and a great looking exhaust - it didn't fit. The shop I took it to said it definately looked like it was for a FWD. So I sold it on eBay, and now the buyer said he took it to a shop and they said it wouldn't fit his 90 FWD Laser RS Turbo.

So ... which model/year do you guys think this exhaust is for?

It's definitely not for a FWD DSM. Both FWD 1g and 2g have a bend on the downpipe to the left to meet with the cat or test pipe.

Well, when I first mounted it to my AWD the downpipe was rubbing on the T-case. But what do you think about the rest of the system?

Well, now I"m confused. I don't know why his shop would have told him that. But I still don't know exactly where under the vehicle they told him it didn't fit....

Oops, I screwed that last posting up.

But anyways, I tried to install the system and when I couldn't get it to fit I took it to Midas. The guys are cool there, and let me in the shop to watch. I saw as the T-case interferes with the angle of the downpipe, and the rear section cannot clear the rear differential. They have pipe benders at the shop, but it definately wouldn't have worked.

If you guys are sure about it being AWD, I will relist it as such and hope for the best I guess.

Btw, are 92-94's at all different than 90's in this regard?

Also, could the fact that I use a '90 T-case and transmission have affect the downpipe interference?

No all 1g awd are the same in this application.

No nothing to worry here.
