I REALLY REALLY NEED SOME HELP! I dont know much about cars so please dont get mad I will explain as good as i can.. Ok here it is, I was changing my 02 sensor (the one before the catalytic converter) and when we got the old one out the threads on the inside of the 02 housing were we all messed up and we couldnt get the new one in! Well now is when the problems start. I decided i was just gonna take it to the Mitsu dealer. So then replugged in the battery and was just gonna drive to the dealer without the 02 sensor in. Well when i start it up everything is cool until about 5 min later. All my lights are getting dim my power locks and windows dont work and nothing is blowing out for my heat and i turned it on full blast air nothing comes out!! I was told to buy a new alternator and i did. It is still doing the same stuff !! What can it be? 02 sensor not being in? Electrical problem somewhere? all fuses were ok. I have a 97 Eclipse GSX and im getting to hate it And like i said im a newbie when it comes to cars so any help is appreciated. Dont say like take it to the dealer or anything i know that but my car wont stay on long enough to get there. So any help is appreciated and I was not the one working on the car hehe... Thanks guys

I have no sensor on my car anymore...i took the whole thing out unplugged it from the 02 housing and everything so i have no wires from the sensor anywhere the old sensr is in the garbage :)

It has to be a short somewhere. I don't see why else you would be constantly losing power after changing your alternator.

See thats what im sayin i touched no other electrical components when changing the sensor besides unpluggin the battery like ur supposed to :) I have idea when to look or what to look for im a newbie when it comes to cars :(

The sensor may be gone, but somewhere there are still wires left over that come from your car's engine control unit. Did you or your friend cut the wires, or unplug it from the harness? Either way, try and find the wires and make sure they're not touching anything metal or each other in the engine bay.

replugged in the battery

Often times its the simple things that get you. Check to make sure your connection to the battery is clean (it may look ok but clean it to be sure), and that its tight.

i uplugged the sensor from the harness...no cutting of wires were done...i guess i will try tightening up he battery again...i hope it flxes it cuz im getting mad:mad: thanks for the help so far

Acutally we did that with the wire brush :( i dont know man is there anything else i can try.. I am definately gonna clean it up some more and retry it

With the battery unplugged, check all of your electrical connections on the alternator, making sure they're tight/secure.

In removing the lower heatshield (which you have to do in order to access the O2 sensor), I'm wondering if your 'mechanic' may have bumped/loosened one of your connections. Also, check all fuses under the dash and in the engine compartment. If he stuck a wrench in there without disconnecting the battery, he may have shorted the alternator connections, resulting in a popped fuse.

well we unplugged the sensor before we put in the new alternator so we were nowhere near the new alternator when messin with the sensor... I will just check out all the fuses and all the connections to the battery and from the alternator hopefully i wll find the problem...can i be any other wiring that i cant get or somethin?
