please help turbo problem

I recently bought a 1 g tsi talon. I am starting to regret it because if it isnt routine maintenance on a car i know nothing about it. I thought I could learn but not going well. I am having seious boost issues. In first gear nthe only way the turbo will even try in spool is to put the gas pedal to floor, other than that u can rev it to 6k rpm before it even trys to spool. In any other gear when u get on the gas a variety of things can happen its like playing the lottery. First one is turbo will sound like its completely spooling no power gain. Second option turbo sounds like spooling and once it spools the car starts to buck and wanna stall. The third option is turbo spools with minimum power gains and it feels like its cutting in and out. Any help would be appreciated if I dont figure this out the car is gonna be sold at a big loss to me.

Boost leak test amigo. Then come back with what you find.

I have a soft spot for 1gs.. You will need to do a boost leak test. You will be supprised at the variety of symptoms a boost leak can cause. Building a boost leak tester is super easy if you have a drill and 15 bucks. You'll need a pvc end cap ( I prefer the flat ends.. easier to work with, If your turbo is stock you'll want a 2inch cap) a guage that reads in small incraments so you will be able to see any variation in pressure, a tire valve stem, lowes sells a threaded valve stem works great!, and a silicone coupler that fits the size cap you are using.
Again if your using a stock turbo grab a 2 inch cap and 2inch coupler and 2 hose clamps. You wont need taps or anything special just some drill bits and a drill. Drill your holes a little smaller that your guage and valvestem and then just start screwing them in they will make their own tight sealed threads. Lowes and im sure almost any hardware store will carry these items. Let me know if this helps out, and if you need anything eles just give me a shout.

You keep driving it like that with those leaks, I gurantee your going to ruin that turbo from overspeed if you havnt already, i have myself with just a bad TB leak. From my experience just a TB leak, can cause the whole car to run HORRIBLE, idle bad, no power, loud turbo spool no power.

90% of the problems of running dsms not building boost but hearing loud ass spools is commonly a boost leak. It should be a requirement to perform a boost leak test before even posting the any problem on dsmtuners

Boost leak for sure dude. if you dont want to build one have a local shop like pepboys do a leak test they have testers and it only coast about 25$ for them to do the test.
