 I have a 99 gst with a big16, 550 injectors, safc1, walbro 255 no rewire, b&m fpr, 3" inch exhuast with no cat, stock side mount, and greddy pipes, and a new fuel filter. my car is running lean, at idle my egt reads 800 degrees and while cruising 70 it reads 1200 degrees and goes up to 1600 at about 16-17 psi of boost. i dont know what my fuel pressure is, i have a guage but haven't put it in yet. this is the sec. motor, the last one broke the 3rd piston and put the 4th rod through the block and starter. it has taken me 2 years to get it running again and i'm pretty much running the same setup as before it tanked. i cant blow it up again. i dont have a dataloger or any real monitoring electronics. Please Help! could it be my tuning? if so how the hell do you tune a safc? should i get some other fuel management? I have an safc2, a spare reg. 16g, should i use either one? i also have a 95 parts car too.

I also have another problem. after sitting 2 years my ecu does not send a ground signal to the relay to turn on my fans. any help would be greatly appreciated

Get a datalogger, rewire the fuel pump, and possibly get a wideband. Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? If you don't have one, you should get one along with a gauge.

If you trashed an engine already, I would say you shouldn't be boosting it so much until you know how to tune. Read the tuning guides.

I highly agree with the man above. A wideband is the best easiest way for new tuners to tune. Narrowbands wont help you. Neither will EGTs. PLX M-250 is around $290 shipped. Get it. Love it. :)

The stock fpr can handle 550's so yeah get the aeromotive fpr, but get the wideband first and foremost.

Unless you want to be back at point a, quit boosting so high while your trying to fix these problems. Stay at stock boost under 10psi.

did you mean the stock fpr can't handle 550's. i will get a wideband and a new fpr but i'm still not sure how to tune with the wideband. the problem is i would like to take it to a shop to tune it but i live in dallas and the couple of dsm shops around here suck. forced performance is local but extremely high. with tthe wideband do i need a datalogger? someone told me i might look into getting a tuneable ecu, is that a bad idea?

Please explain why and how fpr overrun has to do with size of injectors.
