The car is a 92 FWD Laser and will go into gear, the linkage is all fine... clutch has good pressure.
But when I put the car in any gear and release the clutch the does NOT move and dies. If I place the car in neutral it MOVES forward as though in gear!!
I dont know what could be causing this. Please help.

You definitely have a linkage problem. Check them all again, under the console and hood. Manually try and move the selector under the hood on the transmission and see where the shifter moves.

ive moved the linkage manually and shifter moves accordingly inside the car... could it be a slave cylinder problem? if it where an internal tranny problem would i be getting grinds?

Did you just do any work on the transmission/clutch. The transmission could not be flush with the block causing this problem. Any noise when you get the clutch out? Clutch smell? Does the fork move with the slave? What if you put it in 1st manually under the hood, push the clutch and start the car? Same problem or does it move?

again, the linkage is just fine, nothing lose, everything is as it should be, no clutch leaks. could low trans fluid cause anything like this? i am checking it right now.

last time i worked on the trans was last summer when i put my new clutch in, its been driving fine since. I had my GF push the clutch in while i watched the slave and it moves like its supposed to, no smell.

also feels like 3rd is out as it moves forward just as it does while in neutral.

I drove it last night and it was running perfect, but today it does this...

I have unfortunately have had the same problem before. you broke the 3-4 gear shift fork. Mine always broke and got stuck in 3 gear, and thats why the car moves in neutral.

Thanks for confirming what i was thinking... I've got myself a used transmission already and plan on putting it in this weekend. Makes no sense to waste time messing around when i know in the end ill have to swap it anyway!
