Hello everyone. I measured my oil clearances on my main crank bearings. I used the red plastigage that measures .002-.006. One bearing was exactly .002 inches on the plastigage. The rest of the bearings were wider than .002. What does this mean, what step do I need to do now? Do I need to use the other type of plasigage measuring .001-.003 (the green one)? I am lost as far as what my next step should be. Should I just take it to a reputable machine shop? Also I have on one of my bearings a long line wear mark on it. I will post pics up tomorrow of the bearing. I really need help, I am new to doing this. I just want to replace my main and rod bearing with oem ones since my motor is out anyways. Thanks.

Anyone? I really need help. I will try to use the green plastigage sometime this week to see what type of results I get. Does it matter if my crank is in top dead center or bottom dead center? Also do I need to take off my rod caps and bearing while I plastigage the crank? How about when I do the rod bearings, does the crank bearings and caps need to be installed and torqued/tdc or bottom dead center? Thanks.
