I have new all season tires on my chrome ASA wheels, so I decided to dip them instead of using the stockers for winter. Whaddya think?

Never mind the dent in my bumper:hellyeah:

Did the same thing, only with the stock wheels. Have chromes for the summer & plasti dipped for my snows

Well I have to say I'm disappointed. The dip is starting to peel in various places. I've dipped several wheels before, but this was the first set of chrome. I prepped them properly, but it doesn't seem to adhere to chrome as well as regular alloy.
Ironically I dipped them in preparation for winter driving and because of the unseasonably warm temps in the northeast we haven't had any snow or salt yet. I'm still gonna keep the dip on for now, hopefully it makes it until spring.

I dipped the wheels on my car 3 years ago and it's still holding strong no chrome tho :aha:

That sucks. Looks good though. I have plastic dipped several chrome items never had it peel. What did you prep them with?

I just used some bug and tar remover, then some rubbing alcohol. I have a crack in one of my rims now, and even though it still holds air I want to replace it. Unfortunately ASA no longer makes the AR1 wheel in chrome, only silver and black, so I may try dipping them again and adding glossifier.
I would get the new rim chrome dipped if the other three were in great shape, but they're a little beat.
