Well Im having some issues with my alternator read in this forum "where does this wire go and" but on to my q.....On the alternator on that post that sticks out my alternator it came with a black plastic insulator, and 2 nuts. I didnt know if I needed the insulator so i just atatched the ground and a nut and pop went the 80amp fuse. my guess is I need it.duh. So what is the order it goes on. insulator, nut, ground strap wire, nut? Let me know if this is correct. thanks because thats how I have it. not sure if thats the way since I dont have another 80amp fuse and its 2am

You should have the battery disconnected when working on or around the alternator.
Like karnsatron said, that wire is not a ground, it's the B+ output from the alternator to change the battery. It's connected via the fuse to the positive terminal. If it touches ground you will be shorting the battery and the fuse will blow rather than welding the terminal to whatever you touch.
