Plastic Cover Broke

The plastic cover thing that is under the pulleys and etc on the driver side of the engine facing the fender is all fubarbed up... is that going to affect anything?
 
Yeah, I wouldn't take any chances when it comes to the lower Timing belt cover. If it is damaged you have to wonder how it was damamged. If there are large holes/gaps or what ever in there where debris or snow, rain, or mud can get it it really needs to be replaced.

You can get them used on Ebay,DSMtrader.com, or here in the classified so you don't have to break the bank for a new one. I got mine of somone on dsmtrader.com for like $25 shipped if I remember right.
