Piston clearances

Im getting ready to bulid my engine, but Im having a hard time deciding what piston to wall clearance and ring gap to run with my wiseco 8:3:1 pistons. I will be running a evo3 16 g turbo, at 25 psi. I talked to wiseco and they recomended a piston to wall clearance of .0003-.00035. I also talked to two differnt people from slowboy, on said .0003-.0004, and the other said .0004-.0005, so im very confused. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are having a problem that many do, in that you are trying to listen to everybody. From my expierence this will only lead you to trouble. Pick one to listen to (a creditable one) and go with it.

I have used many sets of Wiseco pistons, and have for the most part used their reccomended tollerences, with no problems.

.0003"-.00035" is a bit tight there. Im guessing you mean 3 thousandths - 3 1/2 thousandths which is .0030"-.0035.

003 to 0035 is the one you want!

.003" to .0035" is what you need

Draggin this up again..on my instructions they say .0025 but mabye cause they are stroker pistons?
What happens if you go loose like .004 or .005..would you start losing oil by the rings?

Doesn't Wiseco rate their clearances at a different location than most of the other major manufacturers. I heard that they rate the clearance at the part of the piston that expands the least, which would mean you would want to have more clearance than what they recommend. Buddy of mine ran into this problem with his wisecos. He ran .0040" and it was too tight for a stroker. The piston heated up enough so that when he ran meth injection it preignited the meth and caused the largest clusterfock of mess you can imagine with a motor blowing.

.003-.0035 is more than enough for a setup such as that.

Follow the instructions, if you have doubts call Wiseco again. Wiseco would know better than Slowboy would what Wiseco piston clearnaces are supposed to be.

Wiseco pistons are measured in a different location than other piston manufacturers.

According to wiseco, their pistons have a "break in" skirt coating that will wear away to add another .0005" to the clearance. Set the piston-wall clearance to .003", and after break in you'll have .0035".
