Ok here are some more pics guys. I couldn't quite make out what the top of the pistons said but I do know that they were burnt to hell and it looked like it had some chunks of charcoal on the top. Now onto my valves, why in the hell are my exhaust valves bright orange???? Maybe thats a stupid question.

Reason why your valves are orange like that is from an octane booster you have recently put in your gas tank. Its just a by product the booster leaves, Does no harm to the valves.
Your chamber looks relatively clean It should look like that. Should be a flat black look with out any oil residue meaning the motor should be in good shape as there is not much oil blow by so.

Ok awsome I was kinda concerned. What go you guys think of the tops of the pistons???? should they look like that??? I'm assuming maybe becaue the have 65,000 miles on them but ya.

The last time I pulled my head the pistons looked brand new cause it was water/glycol injected from a leaky gasket.

Thats normal carbon build up. Every engine that runs gasoline has pistons that look like that.

whille ## at it take the cams out and flip the head over and pour mineral oil in each chamber top and see if the valves are leaking .. if they are get ## head machined

Woops double posted the site was running kinda slow for a bit. Anyway I just got done removing all the pistons and the cross hatch is very noticable and there is no scoring or anything so I'm gunna be keeping the stock bore and getting some 9:1 weisco pistons. Bassically all the work is done just waiting on the money for parts. I will post pics up here in a little bit the battery on my camera died and I want to go out and organize my garage a little bit, I hate working in a clutterd area and I want to make sure I have all my nuts and bolts labled.

The pistons look fine to me, you should be more worried about the bores than the top of the piston. Are there any vertical lines, or areas where the cross hatch is gone?

I plan on going with eagle rods and weisco pistons. Right now the build is on a halt, my truck i got which is a 1992 chevy silverado K2500 3/4ton with a 6.5l turbo diesel is getting some new tires new wheel cylinder and brake shoes.
