Picked up a Block..but tell me what you think

Alright well I have two spare blocks that I'am checking out and one is completely shot and cracked but the other one is in good condition. Only one problem though. This one bolt hole is pretty much gone. I think it's part of a tensioner or something that runs along the timing belt. Can this be fixed? Looks more like it cant, but other advice is well appreciated.

That's for the PS pump bracket. I don't see any reason why you couldn't just run a tap through there...

No Paul, look above it. Thats a cross cut section of the motor mount bracket hole. Its broken pretty bad. Can it be fixed? Yes, is it worth it, probably not.

To weld on cast material such as this block, you would need to heat the cast material up red hot then build up the material where it is broken. Then drill and tap for the bolt hole. I have done this but not on a cheap 100.00 block. This is something you do with a very expensive block such as a diesel where the used block costs 1600.00. Not to mention you need to know exactly what you are doing to make this safe. Just junk it.

i have used a few industrial epoxy's to repair similar broken castings at work, and they hold up just fine... ALTHOUGH, i would never do such a repair on a block going into my vehicle.

Dont think it was sawed off. Someone mite have dropped it or used that as a prying spot for some reason. This was the good block. Even though it's not now. The other one is cracked all along the bottom where the oil pan goes. Luckly I haven't paid for anything and they are both going back.
