Looking for pictures of this intercooler kit INSTALLED on a 2g with a T28 or T25 turbo.
Also performance feedback would be good too, esp on a T28:thumb:

Thanks in advance,
Kenny

Hey Kenny, Here are the photos of the BOV you asked for. Also, there are some pictures of my modified T-28 installed... I can't give too much info as my motor selfdestructed 3 days after the Big T-28 install. However, I can tell you that the IC kept it intake temps right around ambient air temps at about 10 pounds....

No problem, like I said Im just trying to get as many diff angles as possible before I start my install. But you said it made a pretty big diff in air temp, what about power? Did it feel any stronger for those 3 days the car was running?

Kenny, Yes, I did feel a significant power increase, even at 10 pounds. I was going up a hill in 2nd gear (was pretty wet however) and as soon as I hit 8 pounds my tires ripped loose. I did a few 3rd gear pulls (only up about 4 or 5 grand at 10psi) I was surprised at the poswer increase over my t25. My buddy has a yamaha FZR 600 and he never got that far ahead of me, maybe 20-25 lengths (concider that fact that he was on a bike and I was only taking it up to 5 grand at 10 psi) The FP Big T-28 plus the XS FMIC has A LOT of potential... I wish I had it set for 15psi and was able to take it to redline... However, I was taking it easy until I got a data logger.
Edit: My buddy was only taking his bike up to about 9,500-10,000 rather than redline, which I think is 12,000?

Also, remember, this is all using my butt dyno... I can't give exact numbers, but I can say that it had some up and go... The T-28 spools like a mother! And don't forget, this is all compared to the crappy T-25...

O, so you did the t28 and the fmic at the same time? I have had my t28 for a lil while now, Im just anxious to see the diff from the smic to the fmic:sneaky:

.....and that recirc tube looks crazy. How did you say you came up with that?

I can't take responsibility for that... that is old man engineuity. My dad made that... Its just copper plumbing tube, I belive its a 45* and two 90*s and a few straight pieces. Then by dad sweat them together, then painted then. Ill get you some better pics of it later.

actually, I did the FMIC first, I ran it with my t-25 for a day, then my T-28 came in the mail. I have pics of how I had it set up both ways... Ill post them later as well!

Is it just me or that pipe way bigger than the one I got with my kit?

Copper pipe? That thing is worth a fortune now, LOL. Copper is like $2.25/lb now.

So its bigger than the one that came with your kit too? Or do you have this kit?
The one pictured is MUCH larger than the one that they give you...
I thought I had more pictures, but I can't seem to find them anywhere...
Here is the only picture I have of it when the T-25 was installed... I did not like this method as it went under the crossmember and was only about 4 or 5 inches off the ground. But It does suffice until further measures are taken.
If you look at the picture of the T-28 and T-25 side-by-side that is the best route in my honest opinion.

Ok, so the way you had it installed (lower pic) that was using JUST the pipes and couplers that came with the kit? That might be what Im gonna have to do until I get a hold of a welder, unless you think I can just cut the end off the t28 without welding the end back on like the above picture?

possibly, LOL
Ill see what we have layin around.
Anyhow, your question about cutting your turbo: Yes you can get away with it, several other people hove done it that way. The only reason I had mine welded that way was b/c I had the pros as FP do it for me. Also, in order to go under the crossmember, I used some of the stock IC piping to make it reach.

I have heard of people using PVC pipe as IC pipeing, however I HIGHLY discourage doing it that way. Even though PVC has a high pressure rating, once it gets hot, its ability to hold pressure goes WAY down... (I'm sure you weren't planning on doing it that way, I just wanted to put that out there :thumb: )

If you have anymore questions, Ill be happy to help!
(btw, the new engine goes it soon :thumb: )

Well for some reason I didnt have to fab anything as far as the recirc tube goes. Mine went together like it did when I had a uicp going to the side mount.

My only problems now are relocating the coolant overflow bottle and keeping the lower pipe (the stock rubber peice) from blowing off. I did mine like you did Shawn, running it under the cross member. I have a t-bolt clamp on both sides too, but when I hit 15 psi in 4th gear, it blows off.

And for some reason my 1g bov sounds exactly like an external waste gate now?? I cant figure it out. Its not like a bov flutter at all, it doesnt even seem like its coming from the bov.

My current 1G BOV seemed to be much quieter then when I had my Type-S and my stock IC piping, that seemed to be the only difference I had. As far as you LICP, Try a little silicone around the end of the pipe and really clamp that biotch down. Also, let it sit over night so the silicone has some time to cure.
As far as the overflow tank, I put it were my sidemount used to be.

Did you just relocate the bracket that the overflow was on to the fender?

No, I actually had some scrap metal straps laying around and just fabbed up my own bracket. Its pretty ugly, but I don't car, is behind the fender. If you look closely you can kind see it in this picture...

is it wise to go UNDER the crossmember with your t-28 setup?
Mine goes over while resting against the mount. (no pics cause no camera)

I have my FPBigT-28 at 20psi and my car loves it. advances to 17-18* timing at 6500.

No, it's not wise, however, it was a temporary soloution.
I was going to go over the crossmember, but it seemed as if it put too much of a kink in my rubber LICP and I was afraid it would pop off at full boost. However, It seems that you are having pretty good luck with it that way.

Now, the real question is; who loves it at 20psi the MOST? you or your car?? :thumb: :dsm:
