I had to jack up the exhaust and rachetstrap it just so I wouldnt be dragging it, and it still bottoms out on highspots. I guess it will work until I fix this beast.

I'm pretty sure I bolted the cat in correctly, i did an o2 to muffler swap with the following:
Megan o2 housing
Punishment downpipe
Megan catback

I started to second guess my bolting job, and got on the internet, since there is no instructions. I went to this thread:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/300064-megan-racing-downpipe-catback-installed.html

My catback is bolted in exactly like that picture. Somehow, I get a totally different result. I feel like the flange from the downpipe to the cat is not matching up somehow, and causing it to come off at a weird angle. Feel free to laugh at my car, or just suggest something. Right now I feel like im going to have to chop and weld the flange differently so it all lines up. This ever happen to anyone using mix and match parts for an exhaust system?

Yeah thats the whole problem, because of the fittment issues, the hangers dont line up, only one of them do (it is missing one hanger there), right by the o2 sensor bung. The muffler is so jacked the welded support is pointing upwards where it is supposed to hang sideways. I'm truly puzzled at what is going on here. I was told the punishment pipe would hook up perfect with the megan catback, not sure what is going on here.

And the first thing I did when shit wasn't working was check the internet to see if I was shipped the correct kit. It appears to be right for 1997 GSX.

To see if it is the right catback unbolt the downpipe and then see if the hangers will line up then and tuck in there like it should. If everything lines up without the downpipe bolted up you have found your problem. If it doesn't line up, yet again, you have found your problem

The downpipe and the catback should meet within the first bracket of the driveshaft hanger. If it doesn't, the the driveshaft is the wrong length.

My advice: start over. Unbolt everything (except the downpipe since it's a PITA). Start from the back of the car. Hang the muffler up on the hangers in the 3 places (atleast the 2 off the muffler), the bolt the rest together and it should fit in place.

edit:
Did you buy a FWD exhaust on accident?
I thought this originally too, but with a FWD, the downpipe on a FWD has a bend in it whereas AWD goes straight down from the o2 and straight back. As far as the catback, I run the same exhaust. Not only do they have the same bends, but with FWD, they usually go thru the subframe where AWD goes beneath the subframe

So, after looking everything up and down, I think i've found my culprit. When bolting back to front everything works fine until the downpipe, the fit into the housing was poor. Then I started looking at the housing, wondering why the fit is so terrible. So I got online, pull up my picture of the megan housing I bought off ebay. Then I pull up pictures of an ACTUAL megan o2 housing, and yeah. I pretty sure bought a fake part, because I used ebay.

Comparison:
The o2 housing I bought:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

The REAL megan o2 housing:

The differences are finite, but the way it is flanged, it makes it impossible for the rest of the exhaust to line up. Mine also does not have the megan insignia welded on it. The genuine article is more of a true elbow, whereas the one I have is pitched forward, making every part of the exhaust slant downwards. Lesson learned I guess :\

Hopefully the company that sold it to me will take it back, I'm not holding my breath though.

Lesson learned. It's hard to trust eBay parts nowadays.

I'll just stick with eBay brakes ROFL
