CD Changer? Why would I use old Technology? I have a 360gb hd? HAHA

And that board isn't mine, its Rubby's, It was just to show something similar. Curtis and I are going to get some 1/2" MDF this weekend and start on this project. WE found some carpet at U Pull It, were going to staple it to a huge peice of cardboard, and cut it out to the same shape as the carpet and see if we can get it in without cutting it in half. Which shouldn't be a problem without the pass side wing (where the battery is)

1/2 inch mdf is still quite flexible, you might want to consider 5/8, and use double sided tape; staples tend to pull or bind. Not really a big deal, but it becomes a hassle later on.

Why use an old technology hdd when you could use a solid state drive which is moisture, dust, vibration resistant, and a whole lot faster.

I have a 20gb solid state drive for my boot. There isn't anything big enough to hold all my media, that doesn't cost as much as a new BMW.

For the best bass reflex, yes! BUT, when your subs slap the back of the trunk because the box is soo flippin gigantic you kinda have no choice! This time around I'm going with a few 6" subs from ED!

blackGSX2g, That is insane! Soo fresh and clean! Was the board hard to make? Cause I need to make something like that... but to fit the entire stock area of the hatch... So I'm kinda wondering whats the best way to go about it.

I want to make my trunk clean like that.

I recently finished a vented setup with ED 7kv.2 (6.5" subs) Using ed's baddast amp they had somethin like 1600w rms. 4 6.5's 2 cubic feet tuned to 35hz, hit 138db the day after install, not even broken in or turned up. It was for a scion xb though, it it took a majority of the hatch space. but they sound amazing, punchy and deep and MORE than loud enough.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I ditched the Eclipse and got a Talon and so now I'm gonna work with that. I got less room in this car than I did the Eclipse .. AWD and 1G. BTW RR if you see this. The floor board can be a 1 piece design. I ended up doing it for a customer. Didn't ever get it done on my Eclipse but had a customer come in with an eclipse and wanted to keep their trunk, so I pitched them the idea and they liked and told me to make it so. I used a Slimline Sub, Truck Box that was vented, It didn't have the wing for the CD Changer, But only lifted the stock FWD Trunk up like 3" MAX and once was carpeted, it was great... also hit really hard. Some dude was having me put 2 15" Subs that should have brought down my b uilding, but this single 12" Kicker CVT in this eclipse killed his system. He got soooooo upset.

Thats EXACTLY what I want, but I also want the battery in the trunk, without some ugly battery box in the middle of the friggin trunk.

For anyone else that is curious I wanted space in my trunk too. This one turned out a bit bigger than what I wanted but oh well. Here's a picture of it.

Very simple. Still have my trunk, have some great sounds and the whole thing only weighs about 50lbs.
The whole enclosure comes out in 2 minutes if I need to lose the weight. Its wired with quick disconnect clasps so I only have to unhook RCA's.
One Memphis 5 channel amp, 1 10" sub (actually am using an 8" now) and 3 sets of Focal components is all I need.
Thats not scratches on the amp, it's plastic so it didn't get scratched during install.

I didn't make it myself, but yeah, I like it because it is clean (can't say the same about my amp :/ ). if you have some fiberglass skills it would be possible to make one, I think mine was professionally made, but all it is is the box, two pegs on the bottom that slot into corresponding holes, and one bolt on the top front that is accessed through the strut tower cover. My sub is an eight, but I'm sure you could fit a ten if that was your goal...

My car never had the cd changer when i bought it.. And ya i fiberglassed my own box.

I designed and built a similar setup to Broads72 about 4 years ago that I still have in my GSX:

Sealed unit with everything (amp and sub). Fully removable with all the wires, patch panels, and RCAs using quick disconnect molex plugs. I can remove the entire setup in about 3 minutes for auto-x or track.

Got kind of cute with it and put plexiglass windows, and mirrors reflecting the interior (more to see indicator lights than anything), and ambient lighting too.


Still preserved the trunk space, I can fit the groceries in the back

Will probably move the battery back in the right corner too once I stop being lazy.

I love my setup because if I wanted to or had to take it out for any reason all i have to is disconect the power and ground and pull this 200lb monster out.

Not completed yet, just up in the works. Soon the battery finish it off. But the entire floor is truck bed coated. Just plain plain interior *as in no plastic crap*
