This is what I want to build. I see this in the Classifieds. This is amazing! Ofcource I want to build mine different... but pretty much the sub flush, the amps flush and looking stock. But it would require me to redesign the computer case... but I think I can set it up if I relocate the psu outside of the case... Just getting rid of the PSU out of the case would shave off 6" off the length. And if I mount the Hard Drive Vertical that would shave off 4"... but I'd have to worry about the watercooling kit.

The setup you linked to is not that hard to build. Just a false floor and an understructure. If your worried about a computer, put it in the glove compartment or get one of those micro towers that everyone seems to be selling now, or a laptop with a bad monitor, split it and save yourself a headache.

On a side note, it you see someone using my photos again, let me know.

Well Its a system I chose to build strictly for the car. I already have it setup, its what I'm on now... I'm just worried about figuring out how to Magneticly seal the Sub magnet or the entire sub enclosure away from the PC... The PC is a MiniATX System... so It will be taking up about 15x15x6" of space, the PSU will be hiden on the side... since it takes up too much space....

I know I can make that enclosure easily... I just need a good condition GSX Trunk Carpet to use as a template for the board... Since it looks like the AWD Trunk is different from the FWD Trunk... Another problem is that they cost 150 bucks new... and there aren't any GSX's in the yard.

I guess I'm seing it right, that the GSX's have less trunk space then the FWDs? I don't remember that with mine at all... but I hardly remember anything about my GSX.

Love the enclosure, you build it?

Not sure if you are talking to me, but yes i fiberglass my own box to fit in the cubby hole. Thanks.

Yeah.

Question. When I owned my 2GGSX, I was hardly just getting into cars, I was still in high school. So I don't remember all that well... But I'm noticing on a few of the GSX's that some people are posting pictures of, even you... the trunk doesn't step down from the wheels... is the trunk higher up then a FWD? Or is that just how your carpet is positioned?

This was my setup before it got jacked.....

* had a flush mount made to go over the amps so all you saw was just the face of them and not around them

This was installed until last month. Don't mind the random wire and plug wires chillin. Steel prop pipe for the win.

Everything has been removed except the false floor. Including the blue dash. :(

The only things a dsmer needs in his/her trunk:

I have no junk in the trunk.

Being FWD, any excess weight back there is asking for trouble. I have a hard enough time getting traction as it is.. no reason to make things harder for myself.

I need to clean the scuff marks off of the plastic pieces in the back but you get the idea. I might just pull them in the future.

I haven't been able to finish my trunk Project yet, lack of tools (I need the stock carpet from the trunk and dont want to spend 100 bucks from the dealership for something I will only use for a template.)

But here's the so far progress for the Dual Battery Install. Sub/Amp Install will be just like what I posted at the begining of this thread, Just need that carpet for a template.

I still have to cut a little higher to take in the top cap of the Redtop, I dont want the battery terminals visible. And then sand down edges. You can't see the hole I cut at all when looking from outside. You have to actually be inside the trunk to see it. After that, everything is being painted black with Ripple Paint, Then I'm doing the raised floor with a single 1000wRMS Kicker Competition Sub, Caps and Amps all flush mounted with lids to hide everything so it all looks stock in the trunk. I need to first get about 50ft of 0gauge Monster Cable for the isolator/dual Battery setup. Then I should be able to do the rest.

Just get yourself some cardboard and start making a template.. Even with the carpet piece, its still smaller than the hatch area itself, and the fiberboard underlayment is half the size of the carpet. The carpet is going to flex and your still going to need a template that is more ridged and less likely to stretch.

The carpet that was in my 98 (since my 97 didn't have any LOL), didn't stretch... It was a perfect size for making a template... And yeah, the cardboard under layer, thats way too small. The carpet would be perfect... and if there are any imperfections, could just trim down... this mdf piece is going to be laid with a small layer of padding, and then some interior style carpet... So even screw ups in the design, would not be visible from the padding. We'll see, when I get the MDF Board thats going to be the only peice used... There should be enough space to make a square box within the required specs of the Kicker CompVX Sub... Since that one seems to require less sealed space then all the other subs I like. Actually all the subs I like, prefer ported. Only ported I like is bandpass... too much room for error on a ported design, I dislike hearing air move.

Just keep in mind that a one piece design will not fit into the hatch area. The box itself is not really an issue, just build it to the specs of the speaker. From there make your floor, or face. Keep in mind that the face cannot be a single piece, unless its extremely flexible. A single piece of mdf fiberboard will not fit into the hatch area however hard you try,Unless its right to the floor, it will have to have a seam somewhere. What you do with that seam will make your install good, great, or so-so. The padding is commonly used for face applications, but unless your face is small enough that it can slide into the hatch, I would think about building the box, fitting a 2 piece face, attaching the face to the box and than adding the foam layer. This would be a semi-permanent install. While you adding foam, don't forget to attach a piece all along the edge of the face. If you end up carpeting, the foam will keep the carpet looking tight if you have a few minor imperfections.

RR, yeah. I just can't use a box of the speaker specs tho... the box has to be matched to the spare tire compartment, and the speaker specs.

With that face, I would cut one of the side wings off. Than you wouldn't have a seem going right down the center. You could always put a hinge on it and have a cubby hole, or a place to hide your cd changer etc. Nice start, would like to see some more pictures as the project evolves. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
