Performance on a budget

If you guys had say about $ 1000 dollars, and you had a good running already pretty fast N/T plymouth laser project car, what would you buy for it??? I want to know stuff like, best products for money, but remember I got a serious budget... So i need performance for little money...

since you already have a 4g63, try and scrap together a turbo kit for $1000. go junkyard hopping... or, get some nitrous. that will run you about $550 if you install it yourself, a bit more if you have someone do it, and then you have $450 to spend... hmm well you say pretty quick... what ya got already? intake, exaust, header???

I have nothing at all actually... all stock... a stock 4g63 Non Turbo.... I don't want to turbo my car, the insurance for a turbo car around here is insane.... I minus well have a vette for how much turbo car insurance is.

I am gonna say screw it for a bit for my performance stuff, just a performance muffler for sound and some small painting of stuff. I am gonna use my 1000 dollars to install an insane stereo system... so people in 3 area codes over can hear my music.

haha conversation with a cop eh? well if hes got a quick ride, some tats, and physically intimiedates the cops he wont get any tickets. plus if he washes and waxes his car everyday, the radar wont work on it, just like the stealth bomber :laugh: that is funny shit.

I think you need to change the title of the post to sound system on a budget. Last I checked, paint, chrome muffler and a stereo has nothing to do with performance unless you consider the db drags as a real race.

ive heard the sound waves with a big system can help give you an extra push and take a few seconds of the 1/4 mile

if i were you i would do all performance, after all isnt that what a project car is for, or is it a pimp my ride project car?

Yea but in order to get those sound wave, he will spend more than 1k on the amp alone. Seriously, $1k will not get you much of a sound system. Maybe a head unit, component system and 1 12" sub. You better save a little more or you will end up with a sorry sound system and still be slow.

my friend only spent like $500 on his, and it sounds decent. he got a sony xplode amp and a 10" xplode sub. its alright, but listening to too loud rap "music" isnt my thing, id rather listen to my exaust all day

Yea but he said insane system. You turn the sony up too loud and it will live up to its name. When I read insane, Im thinking of at least 4 15"solo barics with at least 2 rockford power 1000 pushing them. That alone exceeds the $1k budget. Then there is the soound processor, component system, head unit, wiring, caps, batteries, and the list goes on.

On a side note, the insurance co will only charge you to insure an eclipse gs which isnt turboed unless you go into the office and tell them that you intend to install a turbo. After that, they might just drop you all together. Not trying to disappoint you but $1k isnt going to do much for performance or sound system. The cheapest route to take at this point is to piece together a turbo kit. This is the most bang for the buck.

Its called generic JCWhitney start up companies... can't beat em for price and quality, thats what they rely on when they start up... I am getting the entire system, from 30hz to 50,000hz system for only 430 plus the little install yourself stuff I have to do (wires, cutting holes, fun stuff!)

ur not gona get a good stereo for only $1k. i spent bout $5k n i have 2 12" solo baric l7's a 1470 kicker amp custom enclosure speakers n a componet set.

Like someone else said once upon a time "I dont listen to the radio because I am too busy listening to parts break on my car" More tranny breakage than anything else.

Loud system to keep me awake since I drive alot at night... thats why I need a loud one, that... and I like to open my trunk and doors and play my music loud enough to hear it outside while I work on non electrical stuff (since I know if I just said stuff, someone would be a flamer and say i'd fry the headunit or a speaker)
