i just wanted to know if i could pass smog, or if any of you have passed smog with out all of that crap attached to the intake manifold. the things i am talking about are, the egr system, evap, the coolant lines that heat up the throttle body, and any other lines i cannot think of right now. i live in cali and it might be a pain to pass here with those on let alone with them off, but i was just thinking of taking all of the lines off and maybe retuning for less smog or something(if possible).
thanks for the help

i have.. didnt have a cat either.. rubbing alcohol in your tank with the lowest octane you can get (85) is your best friend come emissions time!

I live in Utah and the emissions are not as strict as cali, but I have passed multiple times without ANY emissions crap.

yeah more info on the rubbing alcohol thing would be helpful..i would thing this would be harmful, please elaborate.

Perhaps try asking this in our norcal regional forum. Maybe someone there can "recommend" us to someone.

LOL, ya i'll take "recommendations."

I have eliminated all of the emissions stuff under my hood but I haven't faced the test yet. What I was planning to do in order to pass the visual test is attach phony vacuum lines to the nipples on the throttle body and attach the other ends to the nipples on the back of the intake manifold (the ones that are only used on california cars). Then I would plug the other end of the nipples on the intake manifold so there's no vacuum leak.

At least this way if they pull on the vacuum lines to be sure they're connected, they won't come right out. Keep your catylitic converter for the test, you'll never pass CA emissions without that.

most california stations are full of retards. i dont have any recomendations on a nor cal shop but i know a bunch of shops in visalia that will pretty much let you pass as long as you pass the sniffer. and dont have any crome intake pipes and stuff. (unless carb sticker bs)

they dont really go all psyco about the vaccume lines. as long as it doesnt "look" like its moded then they dont care.

also its not like they take a jack to your car and inspect your exhaust so most the time it doesnt matter if you have one or not.

i guess it just matters on were you go to

Same for michigan! Hence why i'm running with no cat, egr, evap canister, running 15-ish ft less vac line. And the car has NEVER run better. Espically after finding that both nipples on my thermal vac thing on the thermo housing were broken leaking TONS of air.

Needless to say, one of the few plus's about michigan. And DreamOn, I thought ohio has testing now? If not thats good news, I'm heading down there for high performance automotive.
