Will a driver side lower control arm work for a passenger side lower control arm replacement? Does it matter or does it have to be a passenger side control arm for Passenger control arm?

If its the lateral arm (one that's straight), I would think its interchangeable. The other one (curved) I don't think you could interchange them.

According to Mitsu, they are slightly different (and have, therefore, different part numbers). But according to some places selling knock-offs on eBay, they are interchangeable. I leave it to the OP to decide who to trust on this.

Oreilly also lists them with two different part numbers. But after comparing them side by side, I can't find any reasoning behind it. Whatever the difference is between left and right, I doubt it's enough to cause problems.

They are identical in fit, form and function. The difference lies in the middle of the arm where there is or is not a threaded section. What this was used for I'll never know, but that is truly the only difference.

My first set, I accidentally swapped them side-to-side. I didn't realize this until I was finished installing them. I had no issues. When the boots tore and I ordered a second set under warranty, they arrived as identical arms but boxed with different numbers.

If you look at a set of oem arms than you will see where the difference it. The ball socket in the end is at a slight different angle between the 2. If they were identical than there wouldn't be 2 separate part numbers. The reason that end is angled differently is to keep the ball joint relatively straight in the socket when the car is on the ground to prevent wear.

So in case anyone is looking at this thread down the line, i spoke with an extremepsi rep and he said there are slight differences between the drivers side and passenger side. He changed the site and you have the option to buy drivers or pass side.

Local mitsu dealer has the front kit with both lower control arms and the knuckle for around $90 out the door, at least that's what I paid for mine.
