2G Parking Brake Assembly

Putting my parking brakes back together and I can't remember where the piece on the top goes. Anyone know?

Mine didn't have that part and mine was a 95 as well.

Here's an OEM part breakdown diagram and I don't see that part.

I had a nice picture of mine when I finished them. Ended up selling them to a guy on here and I know he's got a build thread so might be able to find the picture.

Trying to remember on my 99 GST. Could that piece be just above the star adjuster wheel keeping the parking brake cable from interferring with it (cable rides on top of that piece)?

This is the last set I rebuilt. The part that guides the ebrake cable in was welded to the backer plate.

Mine didn't have that part but if I were to guess it may go below the star adjuster and cradle the ends of the shoes or maybe at the top helping to hold the shoes on the pivot point. Place it with the curved part just below the star adjuster or at the top with the curved part facing towards the hub. See if it fits either place. Mine didn't have it and my ebrake works fine.

Let us know if it fits either place. oh and pics too because I couldn't find it any pics or diagrams.

Still not sure where this thing goes or if I'm crazy and it doesn't even go in there.

Took some more pics.
No place for it to go in or be held down by the tensioner wheel.

Middle 2 pics are my fully assembled side that I didn't take apart. It doesn't seem to have that part..

Sorry for the horrible pics, hard to get it to focus and into the tight spaces with lighting.

Put it all back together and it works just like the other one. hmmmm

I hate rust! Mine looked like that when I took them apart. They had been untouched for 145k miles.

Chuck that "spare" part in the corner in a box like a good DSM mechanic would do.

The top (curved) piece is what your parking brake cable rides on. It goes on the stud on top that your springs hook into. The other piece is your star wheel actuator. The narrow end goes on the star wheel. Everytime you use the parking brake it adjust the shoe.

Thats what I thought but it didn't fit on there (hole was too small) Works fine without it tho!

Drum style parking brake. Disc brakes front and back. Single piston on GST

Yep drum ebrake hat with a disk brake.
