Parents giving me $300 towards repairs - need some help

Alright guys...After listening to me complain about my leaking flex pipe(the flex section was destroyed when I bought the car) my parents have agreed to loan me money to fix it. They said I would have to pay them back. I was just going to go to Midas and get the uppipe and have them install it...for around $300...well. Then I went to a DSM meet Saturday and someone suggested just getting a new flex pipe section and getting that welded on. (Which sounds good, because I could get a new flex section for about $25)....Which brings me to my question....what is the stock 1g N/T eclipse exhaust pipe diameter? Also how long of a section would be needed? No guesses, only respond if you know the answer. Thanks, I need to get this fixed asap, and if I can't find the right size I will have to bite the bullet and get the new uppipe(which the only thing bad with my current one is the flex section...all the other connections are fine)

I had the exact same problem, i just went to the local muffler shop, and told them the problem. It is very common, with many cars, so they knew exactly what i needed. It took them 3 hours(they were busy), and 120 bucks, and it was done, very good work. I didn't need to tell them any diameters or anything, they did all that.

Well. I went in there today. I had called and talked to one person saturday, and they told me to call back on Monday when they could call the warehouse. Well when I stopped by, he wasn't there. So I tried to ask the other two guys behind the counter and they told me "umm, you have to talk to him(the guy that wasnt there today)" I was just like wtf can't anyone in the shop help me? Well I'm going to call again tomorrow and talk to the guy that I did on Saturday, hopefully he will be able to help solve the problem.
