alright so my paint is horrible on my 95 tsi, black with half the clear coat missing and a grey eclipse bumper. i need to paint it bad! so i have a buddy with a few guns and he is willing to let me use his garage and tools and even help with the whole process, i just have to pick a color. I saw ebay has trinity paint, i was looking at the 'sapphire metallic blue',does anybody know the quality of this paint? and what other products i will need such as prep cleaners, clear coats and all that stuff. it doesn't have to be the "perfect" paint job and im kinda at a point where anything will look better than it is now. I was originally just going to primer it and call it good but they said to pick a color and just finish it... so any advice in cheap paint? 1gal paint will be enough? how much primer, paint and clearcoat?

typically when you buy color you want to buy 2 quarts cause reduced this will end up being one gallon. you will need reducer that is determined by temp of environment you are spraying in. the fast ones are for cool climate and the slowwer ones are for warmer climates. I use madium most of the time sprazing in temps from 68 degrees to 85 degrees. as for clear coat zou will need to activate it with a compatable activator. like same brand and same line of product as clear coat. i dont reccomend crossing brands cause thez arent all made the same. with the trinity I have found that it is very transparent so up to 5 coats can be needed. i would go to napa and just use there products. they have good martin senior paint and it is affordable. plus then they are local if you need paint tech advice or more of the same color and things like that. if you know what you are doing with sanding it should only take about a gallon of primer to cover the car to give a good enough coat to sand for adhesion and coverage. if you are doing body work i would buy a little more primer as you will need to apply a little heavier coat to sand out so everything planes out right without sanding through the primer. I can give more advice if you need it. just let me know.
