well i had had it with the plain silver and painted my rims.
heres what i did started off by cleaning them with bleach and water.then sanding the part i was going to paint black with 100 grit sand paper, then i sanded the lip with 220 grit after that i went over them with a wet paper towel and to git the dust off of them then it was time to paint. i put 3 coats of dupli color high performance wheel coating black waited 15 min between coats. then waited an hour and a half to take the tape off so i could clear coat the whole rim. i put 4 coats of rust-oleum GP clear gloss.
And here is how they turned out

They will chip the first time you drive in the rain, They will look horible in 1 month.

Ive been through this when I was younger, I have learned the powdercoating is really the only way to go.

LOL i didint want to put the money into having them powder coated. its really not worth it to me 6 bucks is all i have in them. i just want them to look better until i get the rims i want

Mine have been painted (same paint as you minus the clear) for about 6 months now and I haven't had any problems with chipping and they still look great. It is all in the prep work. Looks good, enjoy!

I did almost the exact same thing to my rims, I prepped them, then undercoated and painted with regular spray paint. I didn't even glosscoat them. That was about five months ago and my rims have absolutely no signs of wear or tear. I think you will be fine with what you did.
