Ok my 2g is a green right now and don't know if i should keep it stock color or change it? I did do a conversion on my car to 97-99 eclipse body so it has a black hatch on it and black rear bumper and black front bumper and side skirts. I kind of want to pant it the same color but then i want to go black? I just seen a new evo at the dealer ship and it looked black and purple when sun hit it. I like that color. So if any help is great. Thanks. :thumb:

No one here can tell you what color you want to paint your car. What I can do is tell you what comes to my mind when deciding a color for a car:

1) Black is a pain for many reasons. A few of the reasons are it is very difficult to keep looking clean, it can make your car more difficult for others in traffic to see at night, and black paints usually don't last as long as lighter colors (clearcoat cancer).

2) A whole car respray is expensive but it's your best choice for a good looking outcome. This means taking out the headlamps, tail lamps, window trim, etc. and in the best paint job scenarios it includes pulling out most of what you find in your engine bay. Nothing looks worst at a car show in my opinion as a black unibody car with a white engine bay.

3) Go with a color you can stand to look at each day. Bright orange may look great to you some days but hey, while your in a funeral procession you are going to feel like a tool. When I was debating on painting a car yellow, I put a photoshop'd picture of it as my computer desktop. About 3 days later I was sick of the color

These are my thoughts. Let us know what you decide. And remember, the final quality of the paint reflects your patience in preparing the surface.

I agree with what was said above about painting the engine bay as well.

Many people decide they want to paint their vehicles, but often skip over the door jams and engine bay. Unless you are willing to pull your engine to paint the bay I would just repaint the car green again.

The choice is yours.

The engine is already out and also the sub-fame is coming and cross member as well. I am in my process of taking out the whole harness. I am going take everything off the fire wall to paint. I wan my paint job to be clean as can. But i do think i am going to go OEM color and do it right.

yea my friend has it so i wont paint my car that color.

And PaintBallaa5 i Know what you mean and i am thinking the same thing. More time and money.

I personally love black. Problem with black is that its a real pain keeping it clean, however, if you are like me and enjoy washing your car its not a real problem.

Nothing looks more crisp than a fresh wax job on a black car, in my opinion.

With that said, pick what ever color YOU think will make YOU love your car. If that happens to be pink, do it and tell everyone who says its stupid to pound sand.

Good luck, hope to see the pics of the finished product!

Thanks for the post. And yea black is a great color and hard to keep clean. I was my car all the time. I like it spot less LOL. I will put pictures of the panted car up also.

Keep all the post coming. Thanks

Black cars look great especially at night with a good clear coat of course, looks like glass. Ya black is high maintenance and scratches show up very easily but in my opinion it's worth it. My only real problem with black is it absorbs alot of heat from the sun so the clear wears and the body gets too hot to touch with bare skin. Guess it helps to stop anyone from touching your car. Totally up to u of course, but I also like white with the contrast of carbon fiber hood and trunk..

Yea i like black also. My original paint color is G36 Everett Green Metallic. I dont know if i should paint it black or the green.
