hey guys
so my 97 eclipse gsx is idling high when i start it, then it will drop down, and then bob up and down. i do have a 1g throttle body on there. also when i press in the clutch at idle the car will die.

what exactly do i have to replace the code said idle air control system. Help me

one more thing is there anyway to clean out the throttle body if so what do you use

Sounds like the isc has one or both coils bad. You can take it off and ohm it out; I think they should read 33ohms if remember correctly. If just one coil reads bad, can go to junkyard and find one with at least one good coil and swap the coil for the bad one. Real easy to do if you can solder fairly well.

To clean throttle body, take it off and tape off the 2 holes on the bottom inside the throttle body near the butterfly. Those holes are for the sensors, and if any cleaner gets in there, can harm or destroy the sensors. Then hose that sucker down with throttle body cleaner on both sides of the butterfly. Open up the butterfly and clean where it rests when closed. Also clean the opening into the intake manifold. Let it set a while (hour or two), then wipe everything clean. Once it's wiped down thoroughly, remove the tape and re-install. Before re-installing, might want to replace the seals for the butterfly flapper rod. Have to remove sensors to do that. They almost always start leaking after 8 or 10 years.
