The overdrive seems to be kicking off when I let off the gas and let it coast, just wondering if anybody knows if it could be the ECU messing up or just the transmissions O/D is shot.

If the transmission is the issue does anybody know any good places to get automatic transmission for a 95 gst?

What controlls the transmissions on auto cars is the tcu..It's behind the ecu..Your tcu could be going bad..But it could also be just fine..Cause when your coasting your obviously loosing speed..The tcu will automatically downshift when loosing speed..

Hm then that's a good possibility, it use to only do it once in a while now it's doing that all the time just downshifting and stay at a high rpm when I let off the gas as if I hit the o/d off button.

You could always replace the tcu, and see if that fixes it..Or borrow one from someone, and try it out..But it could be normal..You might have your foot too far down.. Or you could have it one cruise and going up a hill..I dont't Knows I'm not there..If you can find a cheap tcu swap it out and see if that fixes it..If it's not the tcu, you could always resell it...

Sounds like your end clutch is ging out. If it was the TCU it would put you in 3rd not Nuetral. And if your speed sensor or TPS was ging out your gears could jump all over. I've read that it can be an easy to moderate in difficulty to replace the end clutch. Involves removing passenger side tire and sheild and opening up the trasmission on that end. No need to pull trany or rebuild. There a few write ups on forums about doing this. The material that the clutch is made up dissolves or wears down and will work then gradually not work. Do a few searchs for End Clutch autmatics and should find they have similar issues, and will also find the fixes. Also the clutch itself is realatively cheap compared to a rebuild 50-150 I believe. Well was 130 for my Talon FWD. Wish ya luck.

Well tried switching the tcu/tcm still does it, has any one ever had luck with lucas?

I do not have the money right to replace the transmission.

Before spending any money please make sure that the fuzzy logic of the TCU is not just adapting to your driving style. If you drive hard the transmission control assumes that you want to continue to drive hard and will raise the shift points and hold the lower gear on lifting after hard throttle. And yes, it will down shift on breaking.

I know it's hard but try driving like a blue haired lady for a couple of hours. It may not work if you have a real mechanical problem, but at least it's free.

I really don't beat on it, worst I do is a hit my throttle half way, but did drive like a little old lady to see what would happen and still happens after two days of driving like that.

I know a lot of people who have used lucas and most got a year to 5 years out of the transmission and that's when they weren't even shifting period, so if I do this early enough should be even better results, and least be to able to wait it out long enough to buy a performance transmission.
