Been having problems in third, fourth, and fifth gear with over revving when I'm accelerating.
First and second are fine, but when I go into third and hit the gas and get above 4k rpm(this goes for 4th and 5th as well) it will shoot up to about 6 or 7k rpm until I let up on the gas then east into it a little bit slower.
Car is completely stock as of right now.
Transmission recently rebuilt brand new (aside from synchronizer) and a newer clutch.
A friend said that syncho probably needs replaced and that should fix it.
But then again he said something was getting on the clutch and causing it to glaze.
He gave me some kind of oil seal to have a mechanic put in the car when I take it in to get the synchro replaced.
(bought the car from him he's been a mechanic modifying cars for upwards of 15 years)

I'm really new to the car scene and can't even tell you how to change the oil. But I'm in the process of learning!
So I'm just looking to see if there's anything else anyone might think is wrong, or support his answer.
He gave me this website to reference anything if i can't get a hold of him, So i thought I'd try it out.
Thanks!

Sounds like the clutch is slipping. I assume your friend gave you a rear main seal, but enough motor oil to make the clutch slip like that would be a very noticeable loss. It would likely fling off the flywheel and run out the trans instead of getting between the clutch and pressure plate. If the clutch is newer, it's possible something went wrong with the install and the clutch isn't getting full grip.

I believe the clutch is new (aside from the car being garaged for a good 2 years without being driven). And yea it was a rear main seal that he gave me. Just forgot the name. All my fluids are full so I didn't think anything was leaking. But I'll look into it. Thanks ^^
