sooo this happened after you flushed the system?

If so crap could have gotten in the radiator if flushed improperly...

Thermostat is always the first suspect though

You're in Minnesota and my guess is that it's cold as balls where you are. A lot of times you get coolant lines bursting which lets air into your system and you overheat. Also, what's your coolant to water ratio? Is it possible it got cold enough to freeze. I doubt it though if you said it was running good for awhile and then started overheating. Your water pump could have given up the ghost as well.

Cold weather is hard on cooling systems. Burp the system and see if a lot of air comes out and then see if it still overheats. May as well swap the thermostat out too. Look for leaks too. The little piece of hose that goes from the water neck to the coolant line always ruptures, but you'd see coolant leaking. Luckily for you the cooling system is simple and should be easy to track down. Give it a good once over and report back.

My bet is that little pieces of metal, and any other garbage in the cooling system either plugged a bunch of the passages in the radiator, or junked up the water pump. Im under this impression due to the fact that it was running fine before the flush. But before doing that burp the system, and check the radiator cap seal to make sure its not dry rotted.
