As the story goes I have a civic half radiator. I just got done with my rebuild (HG, water pump, 170deg thermostat, along with a tune of others). The car was fine over the winter months but when it got hot out she HOT(as high as 240). Know i know people the half radiators with no issue just seeing if any one has a idea on whats going on. Some one made mention of lime build up in the radiator. How could i look and cure it?

1) First off, why are you running a half radiator ? Big turbo setup ? If not, i recommend you use the oem size.
2) Do a radiator flush, assuming it's a used radiator you have.
3) Do half a gallon of 50/50, 1 bottle of water wetter, and the rest water.
4) Run the biggest fan possible on it and run a pusher too.

yeah the radiator was on there when i bought the car. Its been flushed more times than i could count with water. The last time i did it i used water weter with no change. I do have a slim fan sat up as a pusher and its always on.

So if it was on there and you have no big setup going on there, i HIGHLY suggest you get yourself a stock sized radiator.
To begin with these cars run the radiator they do for a reason and not a smaller one. There just isn't enough coolant being cooled for the motor in that radiator.
Get yourself a new oem rad. Hope i helped.

Yes the turbo setup and FMIC and pipeing are preventing me from running the OEM radiator.

Let's put some thinking in it.... you have a radiator HALF the size of the stock one and are curious to why you are overheating? It could possibly be, & I am just guessing here, because your close to 50% decrease in efficiency.

It's about thickness, length, width... for cooling purposes. Less air coming in to cool the radiator, less fans you can mount, less room for the coolant to drizzle down & cool off.

Think about it. If you have a big turbo setup, do some searching. You are NOT the first guy to do this, I promise.
